lock the eyeliner. Clock the beard. Clock the coif tousled up to the high heavens. Ar-kansas-native Jake Hagood, better known by his industry moniker Who Is Fancy, is a pop music enigma.
People began hearing his deliciously catchy tunes without ever see-ing what he looked like. In an age where artists lead with their image and follow with
music, he’s managed to turn the industry on its head. In recent months, Hagood has stepped out from behind his secret iden-tity, not unlike the Wizard of Oz. There still remains a mystique about him that makes him intriguing, yet unattainable.
Largely inspired by Christian and Country music, his sound is a palatable brand of pop centered on strong songwriting and unforgettable melodies. Hagood is mak-ing a name for himself as a singles artist. Although he has yet to announce his debut album, his latest single, “Boys Like You,” fea-turing pop divas Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, is available for digital download now.

GHello, Stigma. London non-profi t Gay Men Fight AIDS (GMFA) produced clips of HIV-pos-itive men reading real comments from dating apps, painting a harrowing picture about how far we’ve come as a community as it relates to HIV stigma. “The all too visible stigmatization of people living with HIV discourages people from testing, or talking honestly about HIV,” says GMFA CEO Matthew Hodson. “In a very real sense, stigma helps to perpetuate HIV.”
Tongue Pop. If you thought Justin Bieber’s hit "Where Are You Now" couldn’t become more of an unoffi cial gay party anthem, think again. The folks over at the RealityTVGIFs Tumblr add a little more sass to the dance track courtesy of drag phenomenon Alyssa Edwards. There’s none of the high-kicking, twirling or back rolls we’ve come to expect from the dancing diva, but it’s still worth the watch. Who knew Lady Edwards’ signature could double as a beat box baseline?

COVER STORY
S cocozza is best known as the ice cream man on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 20: Guys & Girls. The first cycle featuring men, Scocozza left his mark on the popular re-ality competition, partially because of the incredible story of how Queen Bee Tyra
Banks discovered him.
While living in Los Angeles, Scocozza be-gan helping his friend on the Coolhaus truck, a well-known gourmet ice cream sandwich maker in the food truck scene. A chance encounter on the truck would change Mike's life when two women came and struck up a conversation. One of them mentioned that she was casting for America’s Next Top Model, and that they were having men and women com-pete on the upcoming season. She loved Scocozza’s look and asked for his number. At this point, he realized that he was talk-ing to Tyra Banks herself. A few months later, Scocozza was a finalist on the show.
“Tyra is a persona,” remarks Scocozza. “She is a brilliant businesswoman and is very accomplished. She and I have had some very candid and genuine interac-tions. She is a good soul and a good per-son. I am very much indebted to her for taking a chance on me.”
During last season’s ANTM, Banks erupted after gay model Will Jardell felt discrimi-nated against by another contestant’s ho-mophobic comments. After being asked about this, Scocozza responded: “This is a female and gay male-driven indus-try. People don’t recognize or wrap their heads around that.”
“This industry covers the spectrum of in-dividuals,” he adds. “If you don’t have an open mind, you are not going to make it. People have pre-concieved notions that you can make it if you’re just pretty. It is much more than that. You will meet peo-ple from every walk of life in it. It is about respect. We are all creatures living to-gether on this earth for a very short period of time. People are discriminated against because of their sexual preference or reli-
gion or color of skin. I really don’t care who you love or who you worship. Do what makes you happy. It blows my mind that we just passed gay marriage after so long. I don’t understand why people hate. Treat people with respect.”
Since the show, Scocozza has immersed himself in the world of fashion. He signed with modeling agencies all over the coun-try and began working. He also found himself in front of the TV camera. Sco-cozza is a panelist on AfterBuzzTV, and is currently hosting and producing content on his own. His ascension to stardom may seem meteoric and (dare we say it) effort-less; however, there have been challeng-es throughout his journey.
“Going on a reality TV show has perks and negatives to it,” admits Scocozza. “People will know your name because of it, but then people will make assumptions about you. It can be difficult to break down bar-riers.”
After 22 seasons of being on the air, Amer-ica’s Next Top Model is about to end. Sco-cozza sees the end of the era as bittersweet.
“It’s amazing to have been part of televi-sion history,” he says. “I didn’t do the show because I wanted to be on TV. The show is just another experience in my life; an opportunity to do something I had never done before and I couldn’t pass that up.”
Scocozza has a strong following on social media, along with many other accom-plishments these days, but he doesn’t want that to be the only thing measuring him or his success.
“I fully understand that social media is a beautiful marketing tool, but I think people have a hard time separating what is real life and social media life,” says Scocozza. “The only value some of these influenc-ers carry is in this perceived social world. There really is a disconnect. I like when I get those moments when I can take a step back and not worry about my phone. I love just being in the moment and not worry-ing about capturing it. There is something really beautiful about that.”

NIGHTLIFE
hy sit at home nursing your hang-over by your lone-some, when you can head over to News Lounge in Miami to soothe the pain at a revi-talizing hangover
day party? That was a rhetorical question.
It took a missed flight back home to Florida from Georgia for best buddies of 14 years, Kiah Smith and Rodney Williams, to realize what the gay com-munity in South Florida was missing. It was Williams who planted the seed af-ter the two attended a gay Atlanta day party while they awaited a new flight back home.
Williams knew a day party was exactly what gay Floridians needed and he was in the right company to make it happen. Smith, a veteran of event planning and promotion, believed in Williams’ vision. Together, they nurtured the idea to frui-tion making sure to develop a unique concept like no other in South Florida.
The first Sunday of every month, Smith and Williams host Hangover Sundays, a relaxing day party that is both enter-taining and laid-back at the same time. The casual event is the perfect way to end the weekend on a positive note.
“It’s a time to hangout in a chill environ-ment with friends, but still recuperate if need be,” promises Smith.
To ensure the makings of a perfect party, the two coordinators started with the demanding task of finding the best location to house the event. The idea was to secure a venue that had a lounge feel and enough space to ac-commodate a sizable patronage with-out the feeling of being overcrowded. After scouring Wilton Manors, the beaches and Miami, they found the perfect space at News Lounge.
News Lounge is a striking rustic ven-ue with pool tables and lounge seats
throughout the interior. The locale's whim-sical outdoor space is shielded from the sun by beautiful foliage and an awning. The restaurant serves great food and has an indoor and outside bar.
“There are no drink prices more than $6 during happy hour,” mentions Smith.
To make it an even more unforgettable experience, Smith and Williams invite well-known hosts to interact with the crowd during the event, which starts at 4:00 pm. The first event was hosted by hairstylist extraordinaire and Bravo TV personality Derek J. The next event, which will take place on Sunday, De-cember 6 during Art Basel weekend, will be hosted by Dallas Wade, the sexy, former fan favorite from America's Next Top Model.
“The hosts aren’t stuck in a corner se-cluded or anything,” guarantees Wil-liams. "They're mingling with the crowd, taking pictures and signing autographs.”
The event is open to everyone and there is no coverage charge – just come casual or dressy to relax and enjoy your last day of freedom before the start of the work week.

SEX & THE ISLAND CITY
recently committed myself to love, when I deleted my Scruff app. I wasted so much time troll-ing the app for meaningless sex, but ended up getting mostly meaningless conversation.
The worst. I think Grindr and Scruff are time sucks that seldom prove results. The few men I did meet would be for hook-ups, rarely an actual date.
My sister was married over the summer and with our victory with marriage equality, I have been feeling all of the feelings. Cue the Madge. I decided that I am living for love.
I removed myself from OkCupid four years ago because I realized if the site was con-necting me with 20-Something Bearded Gipster A and 20-Something Bearded Gip-ster B, it was probably also connecting the two of them—creating an incestuous pool of dating in our already very small community of Philadelphia. But, the site does lead to more dates as opposed to Scruff or Grindr, so I thought I would reenter the OkCupid world. I reinstated my OkCupid after a four-year hiatus.
Now, being new to South Florida, I have looked forward to having OkCupid as a bridge to meeting new people.
I started talking to a guy. Let’s call him Steve. Steve and I had a witty banter from the begin-ning. He’s the one I think of to myself. I started looking at wedding venues for spring 2018 (I could never get married in an odd year.)
After 80 lines of conversation, we set a date for this weekend. And then he asks:
In that moment, the romance died for me. Really, what Steve is saying here is that “I am a top or bottom, so I am making sure we are a fi t.”
Instead of asking me what I am, why doesn’t he just tell me what he is?
I respond with awkward laughter:
I wish we lived in a world where all gay men fl ip-fl opped. Isn’t that what’s so exciting about being gay? That we create the guide-lines for our aff airs as opposed to the het-erosexual world that has these predisposed expectations thrust upon them? I guess that argument has been brought up countless times. Back to my conversation with Steve.
I then said to him:
What I am saying here is, maybe instead of asking someone what they are, just tell them what you are. Then, you can avoid the “Sorry if it’s too personal” disclaimer, which you are saying because you know it is.
Instead try:
I am still going on our date because I am living for love—awkward questions and all. I mean, at least I won’t have to douche be-fore. (Like I ever douche.)

Arosa Gay Ski Week: January 10-17, 2016. Located in Switzerland, Arosa Gay Ski Week (AGSW) is one of Europe’s biggest LGBT winter festivals. Over 600 participants from around the globe come to the winter wonderland for incredible parties and great ski slopes. Since 2013, the ski area of AGSW has been expanded considerably. By connecting the Lenzerheide slopes to the Arosa slopes, AGSW has become 140 miles (225 km) of skiing pleasure.
The festivities include gourmet dinners, a disco party and a slew of talent from all over the world. Where else will you have the chance to listen to a Parisian cellist (Henri Demarquette) one night and then be entertained by a New York drag queen (Sherry Vine) the next? With a slew of
surprises, renowned entertainment is just the tip of the iceberg.
Ontario Gay Ski Weekend, Avalanche: January 7-10, 2016. Avalanche is gearing up for their third year as Ontario’s only winter LGBT festival. Much like the last two years, Ontario Gay Ski Weekend 2016 (OGSW16) won’t just include outdoor snow activities. The ski weekend will include parties with special guests like Toronto crooner Scotty Dynamo, who recently came out in his video “Show Me Yours,” and Toronto entertainer Devine Darlin.
Avalanche is just a couple of hours north of Toronto in Blue Mountain. Blue Mountain is the largest ski area in Ontario. It’s the ski belt of Ontario, sits on 250 acres and boasts 42 runs of skiable terrain.

Aspen Gay Ski Weekend: January 17-24, 2016. It might be called Aspen Gay Ski Weekend, but don’t let the title fool you. This gay ski event lasts much longer than just a weekend–it’s a weeklong event. Catering to the entire LGBT community, each day is filled with multiple events and activities. There are daily ski parties, comedy shows, dinners, art walks and films. It’s everything you would want and need for a perfect winter getaway.
The entire event is a fundraiser for the organization The Roaring Fork Gay and Lesbian Community Fund (RFGLCF) also known as AspenOUT. All proceeds go to support various charities and beneficiaries, both locally and nationally.
Vermont Gay Ski Week, Winter Rendezvous: January 20-24, 2016. Winter Rendezvous is the longest running gay ski week in the Northeast. Each and every day, guests can ski on two different mountains, go snowshoeing and enjoy cross-country skiing. There’s even dog sledding, sleigh rides and an ice-carving competition.
Moreover, Winter Rendezvous pulls out all
of the stops to showcase celebrity talent that always manages to get the guests going. Last year, it was Bianca Del Rio, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season six. This year, it is no-holds-barred comedian Sandra Bernhard.
Whistler WinterPRIDE and Ski Festival: January 23-31, 2016. 2016 will mark the 24th year that Whistler, Canada, has been celebrating their gay pride and ski week in tandem. The pride and ski festival combines sports, entertainment and social activities to give guests an unforgettable ski week experience. Their Blackcomb Peak is sure to thrill and excite everyone who dares to ski down the slope. The steep, vertical, mile-long slope is the biggest and longest in North America. Those who'd rather play it safe can still enjoy the mountain peaks by joyriding their eight-passenger Whistler Village Gondola.
The village of Whistler is situated at an elevation of 2,200 feet and the Alpine peaks hover at an elevation of 7,250 feet, which means guests can enjoy beautiful views of soaring peaks and take in fresh mountain air at breathtaking altitudes.

of the stops to showcase celebrity talent that always manages to get the guests going.
The village of Whistler is situated at an elevation of 2,200 feet and the Alpine peaks hover at an elevation of 7,250 feet, which means guests can enjoy beautiful views of soaring peaks and take in fresh mountain air at breathtaking altitudes.

ich Vitale had a unique obsession as a young boy growing up in Long Island, New York. Unlike most children his age who were playing outdoors with their friends, the beguiling youngster was coercing his two younger
brothers into role-playing communion. His conviction rooted in Catholicism at such an early age was so strong, very little internal conflict arose as he began to realize that he was different from others in more ways than one.
It makes perfect sense to say that it was a calling from the heavens; one that defi nitely was not for his Italian parents. They raised him Catholic, but they only attended church on rare occasions. Moreover, they didn't pressure their children to tag along with them if they chose not to. Vitale took it upon himself to seek grace by regularly accompanying his next-door neighbor to mass as early as six years of age.
As he came of age, his budding sexuality as a boy who fancied other boys blossomed from nothing more than a naïve notion. The prepubertal churchgoer rationalized his same-sex attraction as a universal feeling amongst boys that was only internalized and never outwardly expressed. His innocent rationale, fueled by inexplicable hormonal changes and coupled with his accepting church, which didn’t preach a word of damnation, helped him cope with his thoughts.
“It was sort of a very innocent thought,” recalls the 31-year-old Vitale. “It never interfered with my love for the church.”
His naivety disintegrated as Vitale matriculated to fi fth grade. There, he witnessed that his sexual feelings weren’t shared universally by others and such desires proved rather damaging to those who unintentionally revealed the fracture in their mask of heteronormativity.
As he began realizing how heavy such a mask was to carry, he excelled in his church. He became a Sunday School teacher to fi ve-year-olds at the young age of 14 up until he graduated high school. By that time, Vitale had come to the conclusion that he would live the socially-accepted lifestyle as a heterosexual male. His opinion about gays were tarnished by the little false impressions he formulated from anti-gay sentiments he encountered outside of church.
“I didn’t know any gay people, so I didn’t have any positive portrayals in my life," admits Vitale. “To me, being gay meant no family and being an over-the-top hairstylist.”
While in college at American University in Washington DC, Vitale's faith only intensified. As part of the Catholic Church Association, he came head to head with his sexuality once more. In a drunken stupor one night, he came out to his crush and his church club friends. Not knowing that they took it as a joke the night before, the dazed fraternity boy confronted his friends the next day. His secret was out, his truth laid bare. Fortunately for him, they took it in stride and even helped him come out to others.
“We weren’t the Holy Rollers or anything like that,” confesses Vitale. “We didn’t walk around Bible-thumping and judging people.”

By the culmination of his undergraduate studies, Vitale couldn’t get enough of his religion. After studying philosophy in Rome, he traveled back to Long Island and started a graduate school trajectory to priesthood at a Seminary. There, he reconciled the fact that he would give up all sexual activities to be a priest that opened his arms to all who came to him in need.
It all came crumbling down in 2007. He abruptly quit his calling, after his Seminary received a letter ordering that an interview of each student and search of every room be conducted for evidence of homosexuality and other effeminate paraphernalia.
“Deep down inside I knew I couldn’t teach this,” says Vitale. “I knew I wouldn’t be able to give spiritual support, if someone came up to me and asked about their sexuality.”
At the moment, Vitale grappled with his faith while building a life as a gay man in a committed and loving marriage – everything he once thought he couldn’t attain. Yet again, the calling was too strong.
This time, Vitale committed to the Independent Catholic Movement instead of the Roman Catholic Church. On June 23, 2013, he was ordained as a priest and received the sacrament of holy orders in Washington DC.
Today, Vitale is a priest at Holy Angels Catholic Community (2917 NE 6 Avenue Fort Lauderdale FL 33334; 954-306-2728). The church is open to everyone and has a predominant LGBT following.
There are three masses every week: Saturday at 6:00 pm, Sunday at 9:00 am (Spanish Mass) and 11:00 am. There are also Thursday teachings at 7:00 pm and yoga on Mondays.
Vitale has conquered his own mis-conceptions to become a beacon of light and hope within the community. Moreover, he is a shining testament of the fact that truth requires no belief. He know shares his truth with his congregation and community.
“We are so close to the people we serve and every aspect of the community,” explains Vitale.

1RELAX. Once you start tensing up, youʼll likely come off as cold or awkward. 2
DITCH THE EXPECTATIONS. Abandon your expectations at the door, no matter how diffi cult it may be. This may just keep you from getting too attached or coming on as too clingy too soon.3
SHUT UP. You don't have to say everything that pops into your head, especially as it relates to your crush. Mystery can be sexy. Duh.

DON'T BE NEEDY. One surefi re way to stay under the radar with your soon-to-be soulmate is to show him that you can, indeed, live without him. The last thing you want is to come off as needy or too available. Stow the aggressive attitude and don't be afraid to let his call go to voicemail.
LEARN FROM YOUR PAST MISTAKES. An important lesson lies at the end of every heartbreak and you'd be a fool not to take note. Remember where things went wrong before and avoid those same pitfalls. Otherwise, you are doomed to repeat the same mistake.

s a personal trainer and massage therapist I hear guys complain everyday about aches and pains – particularly around the neck, back and wrist areas. While no two client’s situations are alike, I’ve found that a lot of the problems are caused by poor work ergonomics, especially a type of computer-induced repetitive stress injury (CIRSI), on the job. Whether you’re working from home, or slaving away in a busy office situation, if you spend hours at your computer, your body is going to crash sooner or later.
Several years ago I came across some stretches and exercises devised by two licensed physical therapists, Perry Bonomo and Daniel Seidler, co-authors of Why Does Working @ My Computer Hurt So Much? I’d like to share these and other suggestions with you that will keep your job from literally killing you! Take a few minutes and review these tried and true moves and see if you don’t feel better soon!
Talk to the Hand: In a seated or standing position, straighten your right arm out in front of you at shoulder height and bend your right wrist back so that your fingers are pointed to the ceiling. With your left hand, gently pull back on your
right hand’s fingers and hold the position 10 seconds. Perform 3 sets, then switch hands.
A1 2
Beside the above stretches and exercises, here are some other tips on preventing those aches and pains @ work. Get up every half-hour or so and move around. Sitting for hours on end places 40% more pressure on your 5 lumbar vertebrae than standing on your feet all day. Make sure you have a good work chair. It should be adjustable and have adequate lower back support. Switch chairs occasionally with co-workers, or better yet, replace your work chair with a firm exercise/resistance ball. Avoid sugary, fast food, junk food fixes and pack nutritious lunches and snacks that will
keep your body fueled! Bad eating habits at work will not only pack on the pounds, but sugary, salty, fatty junk food will make you moody and cranky.
Tom Bonanti is a certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapist with his own gym and studio, Pump’n Inc. located at 1271 NE 9th Avenue in Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304. Look Up at the Sky: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and place your hands on your butt. Slowly lean backward until you feel a nice stretch in your back. Keep your chin tucked into your chest and try
to look up at the sky, then return to starting position. Perform 5 reps.
The Thinker: In a seated position, lift your left foot up and place it on your right knee. Lean forward slowly and hold this position for 10 seconds. Perform 3 sets, then switch sides.
4Pouring Stretch: In a seated position, straighten your left arm out in front of you at shoulder height, make a fist and bend your wrist downward slightly. Rotate your entire arm inward as if pouring. Perform 3 sets, then switch arms.
Muscle Pose Stretch: In a seated position, place your head in a neutral position looking straight ahead at your monitor. Place your left hand on the back of your head. Keeping your hand on your head, gently pull your head toward your left knee and hold for 10 seconds. Perform 3 sets, then switch sides.

SPOTLIGHT. Boston hasn’t been presented in the most flattering light in 21st century movies such as Scorcese’s The Departed, Affleck’s The Town and Russell’s The Fighter. In the year 2015, the “Hub of the Universe” didn’t score much better with Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp as brutal Winter Hill Gang leader Whitey Bulger, and now actor/director Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight (Open Road/Participant), about the Boston Globe’s role in bringing the Catholic Church priest sex abuse scandal to the public’s attention.
Based on actual events, Spotlight opens with a 1976 cover-up of a sexual abuse case involving a priest and a child. Fast forward to the Globe’s newsroom in 2001; new editor Marty Baron (Liev Schreiber) has everyone on edge, concerned about budget cuts and such. One department of interest to Baron is the investigative
journalists who make up the team in the paper’s Spotlight section. Led by Walter “Robby” Robinson (Michael Keaton), the other reporters include Sacha Pfeiffer (Rachel McAdams), Michael Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo) and Matt Carroll (Brian d’Arcy James).
In the tradition of All The Presidents Men and Zodiac, Spotlight is a newsroom drama of the highest order. Add to that the incendiary subject matter – the way the Vatican and the entire body of the Catholic Church were complicit in covering up the ongoing abuse of children by pedophile priests – and you have a story of overwhelming gravity relayed in the style of a gripping thriller. The entire cast is superb, including Stanley Tucci as the abuse victims’ lawyer Garabidian, and the storytelling is enthralling, especially because we know it to be based in truth.

BROOKLYN. Brooklyn (Fox Searchlight), based on the novel by gay writer Colm Toi-bin, can best be described as the most ro-mantic and charming movie of the holiday season. A satisfying and emotional tour de force, Brooklyn gives actress Saoirse Ronan a chance to finally live up to the promise she displayed in Atonement and provides a role for her to transition into adulthood.
In the early 1950s, Eilis (Ronan) lives in County Wexford with her widowed mother Mary (Jane Brennan) and older sister Rose (Fiona Glascott ). Sponsored by her parish priest, and with the full support of Rose, Ei-lis gets a visa and the opportunity to go to America for a better life, meaning that she can leave behind her horrible job working at the family grocer run by the harsh Miss Kelly (Brid Brennan).
The rough passage by boat is brutal, but given good advice, Eilis passes through immigrant registration and arrives at the Brooklyn boarding house run by Mrs. Kehoe (a scene-stealing Julie Walters). Securing employment at a local department store, we witness Eilis’ transformation from inse-cure Irish immigrant girl to confident young American woman.
Nevertheless, Eilis’ life will not be without conflict. She meets Tony (Emory Cohen) at a dance and they begin a wonderfully de-picted romance. The courtship sequence, including a hilarious dinner scene with Tony’s Italian family (including outspoken kid brother Frankie, played by attention-grabbing James DiGiacomo) is a perfect example of the way that Brooklyn seam-lessly melds the serious and comedic ele-ments of the story. But tragedy is lurking. The sudden death of Rose means that Eilis must briefly return to Ireland, leading to
Tony and Eilis’ secret courthouse wedding before her departure.
Of course Eilis’ time in Ireland stirs up all sorts of difficult emotions. A reunion with best friend Nancy (Eileen O’Higgins) and her betrothed George (Peter Campion), results in a reintroduction to eligible bachelor Jim (Domnhall Gleeson). While she is there, Ei-lis is also reminded (by Miss Kelly) why she left in the first place. Ultimately, it falls to Eilis to make decisions about her future that will not only affect her, but also those who love her. Brooklyn is a journey well worth taking.
LEGEND. Legend (Universal) is the second time the story of the killer Kray twins, in-cluding gay Ronnie, has been dramatized onscreen (see 1990’s The Krays). But it’s the first time that one actor, in this case Tom Hardy, is tackling both brothers. That’s not the only unusual device utilized by writer/director Brian Helgeland; you can add a dead narrator to the list.
The Kray twins, charming Reggie and bloodthirsty and funny (in more ways than one) Ronnie (both Hardy), are East End gangsters with dreams of West End le-gitimacy and class. The way they go about achieving that dream is aggressive, cor-rupt and ruthless.
“Certified insane” after three years in prison, and classified as “arbitrary, violent and psy-chopathic,” Ronnie has a coterie of cuties by his side, including Mad Teddy (Taron Egerton) and Leslie (Charley Palmer Rothwell).
Legend looks and sounds swell, capturing the fashions and songs of the era. Hardy can be commended for his distinct portrayal of the twins, although there were points when subtitles would have been welcomed.
