____________________Thursday 10/24Reflektor Concert (Arcade Fire) at Little Haiti Cultural Center o Arcade Fire’s successful prior album Suburbia not only one the hearts of a multitude of critics, yet it also shocked the music world by winning the Grammy for best album of the year. Opening the door for the current hipster cultural landscape (re: the success of the TV show Girls and Bansky’s current popular New York installation), Arcade Fire has released another widely acclaimed album entitled Reflektor. This hidden (though not so hidden) show under the moniker Reflektor brings the multi-instrumentalist ensemble to the Little Haiti Cultural Center to sing all their hits including selections from the new album. Their success caused an added date for Wednesday 10/23 at Mekka Nightclub. 8 p.m. Mekka Nightclub. 950 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, 33132.
____________________
Friday 10/25Cristian Castro oBorn in Mexico City, Cristian Castro is the gram-my-nominated Latin romantic with pop hits ranging from ballads to upbeat tunes. Castro has been in the entertainment industry since the age of five, starting out as an actor (having a renowned actress and singer Veronica Castro as a mother helped). His many albums include the seductive Lo Mejoy de Mi, Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor, and the all-dance remix album of his songs Re-Mixes. 8 p.m. Fillmore Miami Beach. 1700 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, 33139.
Pilobolus o Inhuman bodily contortions typifies the dance group Pilobolus who makes their way to the Adrienne Arscht Center for the Performing Arts. Using interlocking bodies and intricate movements, Pilobolus astounds with topsy-turvy entanglements defying anatomical logic. You may remember them from the 79th Annual Academy Awards where they gamboled into various poses representing films of that year such as Happy Feet, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Departed. Maybe most interesting to our community, Pilobolus signified a change in contemporary dance in which the male dancers are brought into closer physical contact with each other. While expecting a gay Dirty Dancing may be stretching it, PIlobolus’ homoeroticism is implicit in their style. 8 p.m. Adrienne Arscht Center. 1300 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, 33132.

Saturday 10/26Sophisticated LadiesoThe title may suggest a 2-hour gay Sunday brunch, but Sophisticated Ladies is actually a brash and brassy musical revue tribute to the legendary jazz great Duke Ellington. The show moves from Ellington’s early years to his later life abroad. The Tony-winning show includes classics such as “Mood Indigo,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” “Black and Tan Fantasy,” “Take the ‘A’ Train,” “Satin Doll” and, of course, “Sophisticated Lady.” The show starts at 8pm at the Broward Stage Door Theatre. 8036 W Sample Rd, Coral Springs, 33065.

Halloween Tea Cruise o Tourists and local gay men delight: the Halloween Tea Cruise takes off at 5 p.m. for an evening of drinks, drag performances, and beautiful views on the water. Tickets are on sale for $30 in advance ($40 day of cruise) and are limited to the first 300 people. The event takes off on the Dock on the South Side of River Walk. Tuesday 10/29
Selena Gomez o The recently single (from a certain famous blond-haired d-bag) Disney princess performs her catchy music at the BB&T Center. Gomez has had a tumultuous young career beginning with her infamous role of Gia in the hit TV show Barney and Friends. Her breakout performance came on the critically and commercially successful Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. A re-cent role in Spring Breakers signified a break into more adult territory. Of course, her relationship with the Bieber may be the most important as-pect of her career so far. 7:30 p.m. BB&T Center. 1 Panther Pkwy, Sunrise, 33323.

Created last year by husband and wife, Goran and Amy Perovic, Rice and Dough takes sells two of South Florida’s favorite foods under one roof:
sushi and pizza. While it sounds like a strange combo, it works surprisingly well for the es-tablishment.
Owner Goran has over 20 years of experi-ence in the restaurant industry while Amy had the vision for the space. Located beneath the Camden Las Olas, Rice and Dough is the perfect place to grab a bite before heading to downtown Fort Lauderdale or Wilton Drive.
The restaurant offers salads, paninis, pizza, sushi, a raw bar and a wine, beer, and sake menu. Our waiter informed us that the secret to their pizza is the imported water from New York, as many claim that that’s the key to the perfect New York style slice. From specialty pizzas to some surprisingly good sashimi, this place has vari-ety to say the least.
We ordered some bruschetta as an ap-petizer, and perused the wine list before ordering two glasses of pinot noir (we figured it would go with both types of food). When it arrived, we could tell it was made fresh.
The basil and tomato were clearly fresh – this wasn’t chain restaurant bruschetta.
I ordered the Red Kryptonite roll ($18.95) for my main course which falls under the “Su-per Roll” category on the sushi menu. These rolls are larger than the regular rolls, and come with 10 pieces instead of the traditional 6-8. The Kryptonite roll come with spicy tuna, cream cheese, asparagus, avocado, tempura flakes, additional tuna on top, and eel sauce. It was rich, crunchy and spicy all at once, which is essentially the taste of my dreams.
My companion ordered a cheese pizza ($14.95) – eye-rolling named the
“American” pizza – which was gooey, fresh and flavorful. How-ever, the real winner was the crust. Whether it’s that black market New York City water or not is ir-
relevant – these people make a fantastic pizza. Enough said. The owners know their pizza, and the
sushi is a great option for anyone who might want to tag along but aren’t in the mood for something so heavy.
Whether you’re looking to unwind with a group of friends or you’re looking for your new pizza takeout place, give Rice and Dough a shot. And when you do, remember to tell them that Guy Magazine sent you.

Rugged, Rough, and Ready For the Outdoorsby Tom bonanTi
FITNESS
Tired of the same old same old at your gym? Up for a change from the rusty equipment, the attitudes, the dirty locker room? Why not take your workouts to the great outdoors
this Fall, and try a boot camp approach? Basic maneuvers like these performed one after another in rapid succession, build strength, power, and muscular stamina. It’s a great total-body workout. Why not give it a try?
After a five minute series of upper body stretches begin with 3 sets of eight to twelve jumping jacks. Next, perform 3 sets of fifteen deep squats using your body weight. Take no more than 10 seconds between sets. Keep moving! No wasting time.
Next move on to triceps by performing three sets of eight to twelve close grip push ups on the ground. Remember, these are excellent total upper-body exercises, but when you move your arms in closer to the body, palms down, hands al-most touching, you are really blasting your triceps. After these, get up and move, pronto!
While your triceps are still burning, move on to biceps with stretch cord curls. Grasp both ends of a stretch cord in front of you, with the middle under one foot. Proceed to curl the arms up. Pause, then return to starting position. Perform as many reps as you can (15, 20, 30, etc.) then pause, stretch and do another set to burn those biceps out. Don’t let the grass grow under your feet – keep moving!
Next tackle shoulders with a series of com-pound movements sure to sculpt deltoids worthy of an incendiary firefighter or sleek Navy Seal. Grasp light dumbbells, palms in at sides. Proceed to extend them out until arms are parallel to the floor. Do a set of eight to twelve of these lateral (side) dumbbell raises. Without a break proceed to do a set of eight to twelve alternating front raises. Pause, do another set of lateral raises followed again by alternating front raises. Complete three sets and your upper body should feel pumped.
After completing a brief (5-10 minute) run and a few wind sprints, proceed to take the lower body through a little routine of its own. Begin with dumbbell front lunges. With a dumbbell in each hand, step forward with one leg. Proceed to lunge until the thigh is parallel to the floor. Pause, then return to starting position. Perform 3 sets of eight to twelve alternating reps with each leg.
Finish this workout with three sets of fifty to one hundred crunches. Make sure to breathe and stay hydrated. You can take breaks between exercises, sets, etc., but remember the key is to develop stamina, strength, and endurance all at once. You need to keep moving and pumping as you proceed through the workout. Don’t forget to cool down and stretch when you are through!
