Staffing
Welcome back Mrs Ahearn. We hope you enjoyed your time in Tasmania.
Assembly
A reminder that at this week’s assembly we will be presenting swimming
certificates and announcing our Student Representative Council for this
Semester.
Welcome BBQ
We would love to see our new families at this event, starting at 5pm in the school
grounds.
Technology Update
This term, students in Years 3-6 are learning how to code using a visual programming language called Blockly. The students are using a fantastic programming device called a Micro:bit which allows students to upload their code onto a miniature computer. Students have explored basic lines of code including
strings, generating pixel images, loops, and will be moving into basic logic algorithms.
Playground Update
All of the demountable classrooms have been removed from site. The land is being prepared for the turf to be laid. It will be wonderful to have our K-2 play area back. We are also waiting on the installation of
our new playground equipment.
Vegetable Week
This Thursday we will be celebrating vegetable week during Crunch and Sip time at 10am. Many thanks
to Kat in the Canteen for offering to do the vegetable platters free of charge for each class.

Coast Trials for a number of sports.
Congratulations to Angus L and Bailey E who have made the Northern Illawarra Zone team for AFL and
will travel to Batemans Bay for the South Coast trial on the 19th March. Good luck boys
School Cross Country
Our school cross country has been tentatively set for either the 2nd or the 9th April, we will hopefully be
able to confirm this date in the next newsletter. We are just waiting to see where we are with our school
grounds and the development at Wisemans Park. As soon as we know we will let everyone know.
School Athletics Carnival
Our School Athletics carnival is on Thursday 30th April which is term 2 week 1.
The Big Veggie Crunch
This Thursday is the Big Veggie Crunch where throughout the state, schools will be stopping and having
fruit break at 10am. This year’s goal is to break the 2018 record of 50200 students simultaneously
crunching at the same time.
All classes will come out at 10am and enjoy platters of fruit and vegetables which have been donated by
the canteen for students to enjoy.

March Money Matters (Monthly Topic)
The canteen will be placing enlarged printed coins of Australian currency on food items for sale during break to support identification and value of money. The visual aids are great especially for the younger children.
Vegetable Week - Monday 2nd to Friday 6th March
Challenge yourself by eating more or new vegetables this week. As part of vegetable week, The Big Veggie Crunch will be held on Thursday 5th March 10am (crunch and sip). The Canteen will provide FREE vegetable platters for each class so that every student can participate. Last year over 40000 government primary students ate vegetables simul-taneously to promote healthy snacks. As vegetables are provided free, there is no need to pack your child's crunch and sip on Thursday. Parents/carers are very welcome to be involved in the preparation the day before at the canteen Wednesday 4th between 9:10am-11:30am.
Thanks Kat
Reminder: Wollongong High School of Performing Arts audition
applications for Year 6 into Year 7 2021 will close on Wednesday 4th March.
Students enjoying the Aboriginal morning tea
All Aboriginal students and parents enjoyed a special morning tea on Thursday 27th March. They
shared stories and ideas for NAIDOC week, coming up on Thursday 2nd July . (Term 2)
