HEIN MOLENKAMP MANAGING DIRECTOR @ WATER ALLIANCE, THE NETHERLANDS BACKGROUND Hein Molenkamp has helped positioning the Water Alliance as one of the leading global water clusters, bringing together public and private companies, government agencies and knowledge institutes to help new businesses develop into the international water market. Water Alliance is based at WaterCampus Leeuwarden, also known as the European Water Technology Hub. ABOUT THE WATER CAMPUS The WaterCampus encourages cooperation between (inter)national businesses, educational institutes and governments within the water technology sector, in order to create synergy for world class innovation, education and entrepreneurship. This strengthens the global position of the European water technology sector. Additionally, WaterCampus offers a unique research infrastructure, and is a meeting point for scientists and companies from all over Europe. WATER TECH HUB ALLIANCE 2017 - Molenkamp was instrumental behind a partnership with the French water cluster, AquaValley from Montpellier, to explore the collaboration between the Dutch and French water markets. He created similar cooperations with water clusters in Daegu, South Korea, the Water Council in Milwaukee and other parties in the US and Canada. 2017 - Functioned as a panel member for the WATEC in Israel. This exibition allows water professionals, stake holders and innovators from around the globe to share their experiences regarding the current and future trends of the vibrant water arena. 2017 - Ranked #12 on WWI’s list of the top 25 global water leaders. 2018 – Hosted a session at the renown Seeds&Chips in Milan in May 2018. This platform provides a stage to different types of speakers, allowing them to inspire thousands of other innovators, corporate honchos, researchers, investors, experts and policy makers shaping the food system today. 2018 - The Water Alliance was cocreator of the European Water Tech Week (24-27 September 2018). Connecting World Water Tech Hubs was one of the main program parts. The initiative, initiated by Molenkamp and called the “The Water Tech Hub Alliance”, led to a signed cooperation declaration to foster the acceleration of new watertech by closer cooperation of six major Water Tech Hub organizations from around the world.
