1975–1980 Director, University Year for Action at SUNY, Purchase . . . supervised the monitoring of the Housing and Community Development Acts of 1974 and 1977 within Westchester County . . . established cooperative relationships with local agencies to evaluate policy impacts of the “urban county program.” The success of this project also led to an enhancement grant, whereby students in the Urban Affairs Program worked with students in the School of the Arts to plan and revitalize an inner city area . . . the project demonstrated the viability of interdisciplinary research, training, program implementation, and public-private partnerships.

1974-1980 Associate Professor and Head, Urban Affairs and Public Policy Board of

Study . . . recruited faculty and initiated an urban affairs curriculum with primary emphasis on planning, policy analysis and studies on comparative urbanization . . . an internship component provided students with experience in the fields of public administration and policy research.

1973–1974 Director, Institute for Urban Studies, Jersey City, New Jersey . . . supervised

research, conducted funded training and community organization and undertook consultation with local governments in and around Hudson County . . . the Institute supported faculty fellows from a local college, a full time researcher and a clerical staff . . . the Institute also published a periodical which addressed the problems of small cities and the tri-state metropolitan area, managed workshops for professionals and sponsored symposia for the general public.

and International Relations . . . Awarded National Science Foundation grant and Arts and Sciences grant to do comparative research on London and New York . . . Investigated pilot projects in Offices of Neighborhood Government and traveled to London to survey borough governance . . . Findings were presented to the New York State Charter Revision Commission and to the Greater London Group at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
