The Sixth Form team consists of a Director of Post 16,

four designated Sixth Form Tutors and a Sixth Form

Administrator. The team will make sure that you are

challenged and well supported to enable you to not only

achieve excellent results, but to also grow into a person

who will successfully take their place in society. For the

majority of students this will mean continuing on to Higher

Education at university. We have many years of experience

guiding students successfully through the UCAS process.

We believe that there are five key areas required for success

in the Sixth Form:

• Attend fully and be punctual

• Be prepared and fully equipped for lessons

• Engage fully and participate in learning

• Review learning and close learning gaps ASAP

• Do extra work to get ahead!

Hall Park Academy Sixth Form also believes in ensuring that

students have opportunities to take part in enrichment and

extra-curricular activities that will widen their experiences

and help them to make a positive contribution to the

school and community. We have a committee of students

who work closely with the Sixth Form team in organising

enrichment activities, charity fundraising and social events.

We have very high expectations in terms of academic

rigour, attendance and attitude – and parents play a key

role in helping us work with students to achieve this. This

partnership is vital in our continuous strive for excellence

and ensures that students remain focused throughout

their studies.

If you require any further information, or would like a tour of

the Sixth Form, please do not hesitate to contact us via the

Sixth Form oice. I look forward to meeting you.

“We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form and work hard to ensure that all students achieve well and make aspirational choices about their futures in a friendly and welcoming environment.”

Welcome from the Director of Post 16

A message from the Head Boy & Girl

“Hello! We are the Head Boy and Girl at Hall Park Academy

Sixth Form. We are very honoured to have been elected to

this role, which includes working closely with Mr Caldwell

and the Sixth Form team in various events, both in and out

of school. We chose Hall Park Academy Sixth Form because

of the close professional relationships we developed with

the teaching sta lower down the school.

We feel the sta know us as individuals and are always

willing to give up their time to make

sure we get the best grades

possible. We also get lots of

support from the Sixth Form

team, particularly our tutors

who listen to us and

help us develop as

young adults.”

Hall Park Academy is centred on an ambition to

be the best and that applies to students and sta.

Our students are supported by a dedicated Post

16 Study Centre and have access to specialist

teaching and learning facilities across the site,

including a fully stocked library and various

IT facilities.

Even more important than the physical resources

are the sta who work here, all of whom are

passionate about giving you the advice and

support you need to achieve to your full potential.

Specialist resources and a lower than average

teacher to student ratio ensure that results are

good, enabling a considerable number of our

students to go on to university.

You will be treated as individuals in a more adult

learning environment and will be encouraged to

take more personal responsibility for your own

learning, development and progress.

You can choose from a range of AS, A2 and

Vocational subjects. Year 12 students tend to take

four subjects at AS level or one of the Vocational

courses and Year 13 students generally continue

with three of their chosen subjects into A2, the

usual minimum requirement for university entry.

With our positive, friendly and proactive approach

to Sixth Form life, Hall Park Academy oers the

perfect springboard to Higher Education, an

apprenticeship or employment.

Hall Park Academy invested over £50,000 redeveloping the Post 16 centre in 2013, creating new learning environments and specialist resources ready for the Spring of 2014.

Good attendance and punctuality are just as

important in the Sixth Form. A good attendance

record is an absolute requirement for continuing

with any course and to enter employment.

The Sixth Form Student Committee, alongside

elected student representatives, play a major role

in the life of the School. This dedicated team of

students meet regularly both as a group and with

senior sta to discuss a range of day-to-day issues,

which contributes to the eective leadership and

management of the Sixth Form.

We take academic achievement and standards seriously. It means all students have to be prepared to make studying a priority. You will be joining a community of like-minded people who are determined to achieve the very best grades they can – and we will expect you to do the same.

High standards.High expectations.

We want our Sixth Form students to become

well-rounded, informed and confident individuals

who can function eectively within the immediate

and wider community. Such life skills are looked

favourably upon both by UCAS and employers,

enhancing any CV or personal reference written

by a member of sta.

We oer students the opportunity to take part

in various activities as part of their timetable

including Young Enterprise, the Duke of Edinburgh

scheme, the Extended Project Qualification,

National Citizen Service and courses in a modern

foreign language and art to select from. The

specific list of choices is available each September.

It is compulsory for all students who have not

achieved a C grade in either GCSE Maths or

GCSE English to retake these in Year 12 and if

necessary, again in Y13. This will involve additional

timetabled periods as required.

The enrichment programme will equip and

promote self confidence, reliability, cooperation

and leadership; skills fundamental to developing

competent and responsible citizens within

today’s society.

In addition to our academic and vocational courses, we oer a range of enrichment activities within the Sixth Form and various other activities designed to support students in the lower school. These are organised each September.

Dear Parents,

I would like to warmly welcome you to Hall Park

Academy’s prospectus. Hall Park Academy will

be opened as an academy in September 2014,

sponsored by Redhill Academy Trust.

As Executive Principal of the Redhill Academy for

the past ten years I believe strongly that successful

schools have four key characteristics:

• High expectations of all students

• Valuing and celebrating academic

achievement

• Consistently good and focused teaching

• Widening students’ experiences through a

range of extra-curricular activities, including

sports, music and the performing arts

These four principles will guide the development

of Hall Park Academy as a part of The Redhill

Trust, for the coming years. Working with Hall

Park’s Headteacher, Stephanie Dyce, her senior

team and the whole school sta, my priority will

be to support continued, rapid, but sustainable

improvement in all areas of the Academy. I firmly

believe that the next few years will be an exciting

and very successful time for Hall Park Academy

as it becomes the first choice school for all local

parents and students.
