189 Draft Ewes
Smaller entry met a much improved trade, with 6 buyers in attendance. 11 pens over £80 to a
top call of £95.50, for a Texel from Messrs Martyn Uglow of Boyton. Strong Suffolk x Ewes to
£84, from 3 vendors. Mules to £73, from B A Sheep of Treskinnick.
237 Fat Lambs
A much faster trade for all
weights, up around £5 to £6
ahead. More Lambs could have
been sold as buyers orders were
left unfilled. Over all average on
the day was 172p. Several pens
over 175p, to a top of 183p, for a
smart pen of Charollais x 42kgs, £77, from Lee Saunders, Wheel Agar, Darite. Followed by two
pens from Messrs Abel Bros, Lower Godsworthy, Tavistock which realised 178.6p, for 43kgs
£76.80. Top per head on the day was £84.50, for a pen of heavies from Jim Goodenough of
Higher Tremail, Davidstow.
155 Store Lambs
Small entry met a stronger trade, with no big framed lambs on offer. The average framed
Lambs saw pens ranging from £62 to £64, top being from Mike Harris of South Tawton.
Breeding Ewes 733
A strong trade cross the board, with again a large crowd of buyers in attendance. Top on the
day was £112, for a pen of Romney 4T, from Messrs Parnell and Kent of Carruan Farm, St
Minver. Henry Banbury of Dowland saw his full mouth Mules sell to £83. John May, St Merryn
had a run of Suffolk x Mule Ewe Lamb, which were much in demand, with his first two pens
realising £86. Hametethy Farms, St Breward had a consignment of Beluah 6 and full mouth
Ewes on offer which topped at £75. Mule 2T’s topped at £110, and Swaledale 2T to £75, all sold
by Mr A England.
Rams 76
A lot more Rams on offer saw a 75% clearance rate. Top on the day was £250 for a Texel
Shearling from Jack Neale & Sons of Wilky Down, followed by Andrew Ham of Higher Basil who
realised £240, for a cracking 6T Polled Dorset. John Creeper of Higher Tregunnon, also topped
at £240 for a Suffolk Ram Lamb.

More Cattle on offer met a stronger trade, South Devons topping the day at £1040, for a bunch
of 20 month Steers from Messrs M & C Sandbach & Son of St Breock, who also sold two other
bunches at £950 and £920. More Charollais on offer this week, saw a pair of 24 month Steers
sell to £1015, from Mr R Parsons of South Petherwin. Messrs R & M Strongman of Laddock,
Truro was next who saw their bunch of four 19 month old Steers realise £985. A good run of
Cattle from Messrs J & K Symons of Polmear, Camelford, saw their shapely Limousin x Steer top
at £935. Not so many Angus Steers on offer, but ones that were forward were in demand,
topping at £835 from Mr R Parsons, who also sold a big framed Steer at £835. Simmental x
Steers from Messrs J & K Symons of Camelford, met a strong trade, selling to £915, for a choice
19 month old. Over 100 Heifers on offer, with the fleshy Cattle selling to a top of £895, for a
pair of Limousin x Heifers from Robert and Julie Honey of Higher Beer, Marhamchurch. Messrs
M & C Sandbach & Son of St Breock topped the South Devon Heifers, with a choice 21 month
old at £890. Alan Ead of Hensaviston had a smart run of Cattle on offer, which saw his choice
Limousin x Heifers reach £870.
Cows and Calves
A smart run of Hereford Cows and Calves from Messrs Holland of Grougath, St Kerverne,
Helston saw four outfits over £1000 to a top of £1135.
