FLU SEASON
Please keep your child at home if he/she is
ill. Now that the flu season has started, we
all need to work together to keep Hamilton
a healthy environment for all. Students
must remain at home until they have been
fever free for 24 hours without fever reduc-
ing medication.
NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION Cold Weather
Recess – Inside or Outside?
Above 20°
Recess is held outside. From 15-20°
Wind conditions will determine outside or inside recess. Below 15°
Students will remain indoors. Outside recess will not occur during inclement weather or extreme cold. Troy School District policy states that there
will be no outdoor recess when temperatures are below 15° and 20°, the wind chill factor will be considered. It is
important that children dress appropriately: Have boots for use in snowy or muddy weather, wear hats, gloves and/or mittens and a warm coat. All students are expected to participate in recess periods. We believe that participation in
vigorous play and exercise helps develop fitness and is important to the total well being of the child. It is generally felt that if a student is well enough to attend school, he/she is well enough to go outside for a short recess period.

The “Authorization for Medication” form is available in the school office and on the website.

Health Poem and Alert
Please for the health and welfare of your child and other students
and adults at Hamilton, if your child complains about not feeling well,
keep him/her home from school. As a general rule, a child needs to
be fever-free and not sick to his/her stomach for 24 hours before re-
turning to school.
Mary had a little cold
But didn’t stay at home
And everywhere that Mary went
The cold was sure to roam.
It wandered into Molly’s eyes
And filled them full of tears
It jumped from there to Bobby’s nose
And then to Jimmy’s ears.
It painted Annie’s throat bright red,
And swelled poor Jenny’s ear.
Dora had a fever.
And a cough put Jack to bed.
The moral of this little tale
Is very quickly said,
Mary could have saved lots of pain
With just one day in bed!

Thank You from Troy Youth Assistance
Troy Youth Assistance sponsored a candy collection after Halloween as part of their Youth Involvement program.
Six elementary schools in Troy (Costello, Hamilton, Hill, Martell, Schroeder, and Troy Union) collected unwanted
Halloween candy from November 2-November 6. High School TYA members Lily Aldinger, Nicole Borkosh, and
Tessa Kaminski transported the overflowing tubs to Costello Elementary where the Costello Student Council sort-
ed the candy into chocolate and non-chocolate. They were boxed up and weighed for a grand total of 388
pounds! That is over 16 paper ream boxes full to the brim of candy! The candy has been donated to the local Troy
Rotary group for their Blessings program and to the Power Company Kids Club in Pontiac.
