Navy Beach
Navy Beach in Montauk hosted a cocktail party to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. The cocktail party, “Honoring our Warriors. Sup-porting their Families” was the official kick-off to a month of fundrais-ing efforts at the restaurant. Guests mingled with a retired Navy SEAL and Navy SEAL Foundation representatives as well as others from the naval community while enjoying live music by Nancy Atlas, local wines provided by Lieb Cellars, beer from Brooklyn Brewery, and light bites.
The Ross School in East Hampton hosted Live @Club Starlight with a performance by Cyndi Lauper. Christie Brinkley was honored at the event.

Following the extraordinary success of its inaugural edition last summer, Art Southampton (presented by Art Miami), the premiere international contemporary and modern art fair and marketplace, will return at the height of the social and cultural season this summer on July 25 through July 29. The first Art Southampton was a transformative event on the Hamptons’ cultural landscape and will once again engage the com-munity both socially and culturally and offer a discerning group of col-lectors the opportunity to acquire and enjoy the highest level of art in the Hamptons, this year with an outstanding roster of the world’s most respected galleries and two special exhibitions: Warhol by Gallery Valentine and the New York Academy of Art Exhibition of famed alumni curated by internationally acclaimed artist Eric Fischl. The following Hamptons galleries will support the fair: Gal-lery Valentine/East Hampton, McNeill Art Group/Southampton, Birnam Wood Galleries/East Hampton and the Peter Marcelle Gallery/Bridge-hampton. The acclaimed art fair will take place in a spectacular 100,000-square-foot pavilion on the grounds of the sprawling 18-acre Southampton Elks Lodge adjacent to the Southampton Golf Club. The fair will commence on Thursday evening, July 25, with a highly anticipated exclusive opening-night VIP private preview for top international collec-tors, prominent Hampton figures in business, fashion, arts and media, benefiting Southampton Hospital. There will also be an astonishing dis-play and informal modeling of the most fabulous jewels in the world from GRAFF Diamonds. Perrier-Jouët is the exclusive Champagne of the fair and will maintain an exclusive dedicated Perrier-Jouët bar for the dura-tion of the weekend. Art Southampton will host an exhibition of Andy Warhol’s work at the fair. To accompany the exhibition, which will be organized by Gallery Valentine, there will be a VIP cocktail party and a discussion with several Andy Warhol experts, including Bob Colacello, former Interview editor and author of “Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up;” Lana Jokel, renowned filmmaker and director of Andy Warhol; Ultra Violet, Factory superstar and Christina Strassfield, chief curator at Guild Hall. The New York Academy of Art will be partnering exclusively with Art Southampton. America’s foremost narrative painter and Acad-emy senior critic, Eric Fischl, will curate a special exhibition of works by famed, renowned Academy artists. The Academy will additionally host a VIP event at the Fair supported by a complimentary chartered bus out of New York City. Also on exhibition during Art Southampton will be the artwork of ROSS School students and summer students in a curated exhibition. Award winning LaGuardia Design will design the Art South-ampton Sculpture Garden and main entrance of the pavilion. LaGuardia Design actively pursues an interest in how elements of the native land-scape, existing topography and neighboring influences help define the
character of each site and look to unify the landscape into a cohesive link firmly connecting architecture and site. Art Southampton has become the destination for numer-ous museum and young-collectors groups including Whitney Contempo-raries, Museum of Modern Art Junior Associates, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Columbia Alumni Arts Patrons, Guggenheim Museum’s Young Collectors Council and members of the Museum of Art and Design, The Contemporaries, New Museum of Contemporary Art, National Academy of Design, Brooklyn Museum, Jewish Museum, Whitney Museum of Con-temporary Art, The Parrish Art Museum, Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, East End Arts Council, Miami Art Museum, National Academy of Design, Peconic Land Trust, Norton Museum of Art, Yale University of Art, Princ-eton University Art Museum, Islip Art Museum and ArtTable among many others. Art Southampton will once again organize scheduled events and complimentary charter bus service for museum and collector groups out of New York City. Southampton Social Club is the Official After Lounge of the fair. The Southampton Social Club will also showcase a curated exhibition from galleries participating in the fair. Countess LuAnn de Lesseps has been a star of Bravo TV’s hit series “The Real Housewives of New York City” since it’s first season, six years ago. Hampton Daze caught up with the Countess at her Bridgehamp-ton home where she lives with her children Noel, Vic-toria and their pup, Aston. Noel designs skateboards and Victoria is an artist. LuAnn’s boyfriend Jacques Azoulay is in the wine business.
Over past few years Countess LuAnn has released singles and music videos for her songs “Money Can’t Buy You Class” and “Chic C’est La Vie” on Ultra Re-cords and penned the etiquette book Class with the Countess. She has also been a strong supporter of foundations such as The American Cancer Society, GLAAD, ACE’s SoHo Partnership and has been photo-graphed for California’s NOH8 Campagne.

Worst “Real Housewives of New York City” Moment:Almost getting thrown off a camel. They’re supposed to be really calm and this one just freaked out. I was lucky. They’re very high off the ground. It’s like falling from a second floor.
Tell us about the Countess Collection outdoor dinnerware set:This is the first of my dinnerware collection. I started with melamine because I love melamine for summer, and I use it at home. I decided the first thing I would do is design a new melamine collection. It’s indoors and outdoors. The collection is about my love for entertaining and my passion for travel. This collection is called the “Amalfi Coast” with the coral, from my days when I lived in Europe. What I love about this is that it’s basically unbreakable. It’s chic and affordable. We are also doing porcelain and stoneware as well. This is the first in the collection.
You’re planning a picnic. What is in your picnic basket?Wine. Jacques is in the wine business. It’s very nice to have a boyfriend in the wine business. Of course my [Countess Collection] plates, you can take them to the beach, you can wash them and you’re not throw-ing away paper. You can play frisbee with them. Hummus, cheeses, Eli Zabar olive crackers, bottle of rose, and glasses.

Our July issue is kicking off the red, white and Lu! LuAnn de Lesseps graces our cover with her Countess Collection and it seems that her son, Noel, has that entrepreneurial spirit as well! He founded his company FancyFool Skateboards and started making boards in 2010. The decks have a durability that can last a lifetime being made of smooth Hard Rock Canadian Maple plies. He has also created some tee shirts with some of the freshest designs around. You can shop at local retailers or you can order online and have it shipped to you. Another young entrepreneur hails from Montauk with his book “View From The Window.” Grant Monahan, who was born and raised in Montauk, had a unique concept to take pictures from inside the Ditch Witch, the popular food truck at Ditch Plains that his family owns. He shot over 100 photos of various characters that not only gave an inside look at what defines Montauk, but also shows that each person has their own story to tell. Photography started as a hobby but became a passion for Grant when he started shooting skate sessions in the underground skateboard scene in Charleston, South Carolina where he attended college. His book release party was held Memorial Day weekend at the Outeast Gallery in Montauk where you can cur-rently purchase the book. Sabato/Davin Productions is picking up steam with the many projects that my partner Antonio Sabato Jr. and I have coming up. Our Indiegogo campaign has launched and has a lot of amazing rewards! Antonio will be out here filming along with the rest of the cast of the upcoming movie “The Confidence Game” which also stars Eric Roberts, Cathy Moriarty and Deborah Twiss. This movie was cast-ed by Donna McKenna who also casted the movie “Tammy” that Cathy is also in along with Kresh Novakovic and directed by Ante Novakovic. out when and where and how you can attend to be part of the live audience! Last month I talked about the movie “Junction” and they just won another award! This true to life movie boasts 14 awards so far and the newest award is for Best Director, Tony Glazer, at the AMFM Fest in California. It’s already won awards for Best Supporting Actor, Harris Doran; Best Supporting Actress, Summer Crockett Moore; Best Actor, Neal Bledsoe; Best Screenplay and Best Feature Film Finalist to name a few. Some exciting events you don’t want to miss this summer are Bay Street Theatre’s Annual Gala “Rock The Dock” on July 20th, hosted by Susan Lucci along with celebrity auctioneer Richard Kind. Another event you don’t want to miss is the “Diamond In The Rough Gala” at the Montauk Playhouse on August 3rd. One of the honorees is Mr. Drew Doscher who was the biggest independent backer of the playhouse in 2012 with the largest personal monetary donation. Mr. Doscher loves the Montauk community and in fact last summer em-ployed an amazing 65 employees at his establishment, The Sloppy Tuna. He also gives to charities such as Wounded Warriors and Mon-tauk Library and has donated a very large sum to the fireworks both last year and this year. He also got engaged this year on February 22nd to the lovely Donna El-Maadawy so congrats to both of them and congrats on being an honoree this year! Fresh opened at the site of the former Southfork Kitchen in mid-May courtesy of chef Todd Jacobs. Jacobs, who earned kudos as the chef at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor in the mid-90s and critical acclaim in Westhampton Beach at Tierra Mar, returns to the Hamptons with a farm-to-table concept that is family-friendly, affordable and accessible. Appetizers, such as “kim chee” pickled savoy cabbage, baby bok choy, carrots, and wild arugula will range in price from $6 to $12. Entrées such as Tandori spiced oven roasted chicken with pan juices and green cardamom are available in three different sizes (1/4, 1/2 and whole); and hemp flour crusted local jumbo fluke filet with organic carrot butter, ginger and lemongrass range in price from $20 to $30. A bar menu will be served until late in the evening. Food will be available for take-away as well. There will also be a full bar and juice bar. Fresh is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 4 PM and for Saturday and Sunday brunch from 10 AM to 4 PM. Dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10 PM and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 PM. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and takes all major credit cards. No reservations are taken. Riverhead Project The Riverhead Project opened in 2011, but this was my first time having dinner at the restaurant. We enjoyed every bite, compliments to Chef Roy Wohlars. His cooking style is inspired by the farms and waters of Long Island. Wohlars recently joined the restaurant, owned by restaurateur Dennis McDer-mott, after spending time in Hudson New York assisting Chef Zak Pelaccio with opening his new restaurant Fish & Game. Self-taught, his repertoire draws from stints at Bouchon Bakery in Manhattan to South Edison in Montauk. His acquired skills and innovation make him the perfect fit for the New American restaurant. To start we had the grilled romaine salad with whipped local ricotta, grape tomato, cucumbers, radicchio, shallots and garlic croutons. For an entree it was the Szechuan buttermilk braised fried chicken with baby bak choy, Szechuan pep-percorn, la doubanjiang and crispy rice. Also, a side of guacamole and chips.
