Hana Mizuta Hana Mizuta, 17, senior at Homestead High School, has been playing piano since the age of 5. She is a student of Heidi Hau at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music PreCollege, where. Hana has won numerous prizes in local and national competitions, including the San Francisco Chopin Competition, the Menuhin- Dowling Music Competition, the Pacific Musical Society Competition, the American Fine Arts Festival Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition, the Music Teacher’s Association of California State Competition, and the Henry and Carol Zeiter Piano Competition. She has performed extensively, including Japan, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and “Concerts at the Presidio” in San Francisco. She has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, where she studied with John O'Conor and Boris Slutsky. She is an active chamber musician, and participates in the PreCollege Chamber Music Program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She was in the Young Performers Program at Music@Menlo in 2014 and 2015, and also participated in Young Chamber Musicians, directed by Susan Bates. Furthermore, she is the president of Hope of Music, a student run music organization. Through Hope of Music, she has performed at various benefit concerts, senior centers, and weddings. Aside from piano, Hana is a member of the San Jose Junior Taiko Performing Ensemble and played percussion in her school's band for 5 years.
