As Christian stewards, we share the responsibility of making our Church a true community of faith and a vibrant source of service to

the larger community. That includes providing a bequest in your will

so that your parish will be here for future generations of young people.

Catholic Heart Camp 2015 From Sunday June 7th until Friday June 12th, nineteen Hancock County Heart Ministry members and 2 chaperones attended the Catholic Heart Work Camp in Memphis, Tennessee. This wonderful experience allowed our kids to join in praise and worship along with service work throughout the Memphis area with 200 plus other kids. The other parishes that were in attendance came from Florida, South Dakota, Ohio, Missouri and Illinois as well. Service projects included working in a soup kitchen, helping with kids in Boys & Girls clubs, cleaning and repairing schools and churches, helping to repair homes for the elderly and those suffering from abuse and addictions to those with disabilities. Our young people were outstanding servants to God the whole week and were praised by their adult leaders from their worksites. Morning programs and daily Masses helped prepare everyone each day to have the strength to carry on with their task. On the final evening during the nightly program several agency representatives that the kids worked for all week came and expressed their gratitude and told their stories of how even the smallest of efforts put forth bring huge rewards for those less fortunate they serve. After our group helped serve the Friday morning Mass, we began our trip home blessed with the gift of fellowship, the joy of service and the enrichment of their faith. The participants in this year's camp would like to thank everyone that helped to support financially and through prayer to make their time at camp possible and to know that they came away with a desire to go out and "Amplify" their faith! Allison Manka, Lauren Markey, Allison Morgan, Callista Krogmeier, Sara DiPrima, Ellen Gambrell, Hayley Driskell, Jackson Merritt, Michael Carroll, John McIlmoil, Caleb Sinele, Weston Pollock, Joey Gambrell, Zach Junk, David Celania, John Cramsey, Luke Sinele, Michael McCarty, Wyatt Newberry, Rachel Mcllmoil and John McCarty.

Final Days to Register for the Charter Bus Pilgrimage Tuesday, June 23rd is the last day to register for the 2-day charter bus pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI from July 26-27. Drop off your registration and check at Assumptions at 101 South Side Square in Macomb by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. At this point it is too late to mail the registration as it will not arrive in time for the deadline. Assumptions is closed on Mondays.

GPD 2015 Auction: Thank you, thank you, thank you! The 2015 Auction is over, and it was a TREMENDOUS success. We want to thank all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and attendees; we could not have had such a successful event without ALL of you. Fun was had by all, and as we are still calculating our totals we can safely say that we have definitely made over $105,000. We had over 500 donors, close to 75 workers and a ton of bidders and supporters to make this auction a success. Mike & Jim Sullivan ran the auction and they're both members of our parish family so it's always special to see all the connections to our school and parish. It truly was a miraculous day and thanks does not begin to cover all the gratefulness that we have for each one of you making this day possible. Thank you from the entire God's Portion Day Committee.

God's Portion Day Members Needed: With the auction coming to a close and the school year coming to an end, we are looking to grow our committee for the next year. If you have an interest in joining our team please contact Katie Bendlage at 319-470-0325. Please consider joining our group, we have fun, work hard for a mission and it's a great way to get to know others. Whether you're new to the school, been there for several years or even if your kids have grown and gone and you have time to give we would love for you to join.

ADA Update Thanks to all who made a pledge to the Annual Diocesan Appeal. You can see posted below how our parishes are doing so far. A gift to the ADA, no matter how great or small can go a long way. A pledge of $10 or $20 a month can add up. Even a one-time gift is helpful to the cause. To those who have contributed, we are most grateful. If you have not yet made a gift to the ADA, we invite you to do so today. There are pledge cards in the vestibules of our churches. Every dollar raised to make our goal supports important diocesan services and every dollar raised over our goal will come back to our individual parishes. Thanks again for your generosity.

Goal Pledged Paid SSPP $25,407 $21,505 $15,180 ICC $26,934 $25,435 $18,485 SHDC $9,652 $10,986 $8,786 SHW $11,606 $8,235 $5,630 SMH $11,761 $8,800 $6,145

Prayerful Reading Group: Our next read is the book, In His Spirit by Richard J. Hauser, S.J. This book will help you to "...recognize the movements of the Holy Spirit in your life. Most of us struggle to recognize the difference between the Holy Spirit speaking to us and the thousands of ideas that float through our minds each day." This book is said to transform the way you pray as well as the way you live! I have 5 copies. They are $3 each or you can get a single free copy from DynamicCatholic.com . Change of meeting for July, we usually meet the first Thursday and Saturday of the month, but will next meet Thursday, July 16 and Saturday July 18th.

NAUVOO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ANNUAL HOG ROAST The Nauvoo United Methodist Church is planning its annual Hog Roast for Saturday, June 27, 2015, with plain and barbeque pork and choices of baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, applesauce, potato chips, tea or lemonade, and desserts. Serving time is 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the church's air-conditioned Friendship Hall at 1610 Ripley Street, Nauvoo, Illinois. Carry-outs will be available. Free-will donations for the meal will be appreciated.

BLESSING OF SEED, ANIMALS AND CROPS Anyone interested in having their fields, seed, livestock, etc. blessed please sign up in the back of church. Our deacons will set up a time with you.

FOOD PANTRY We are always in need of donations for the food pantries but we are supplying more families than ever. These need to be non-perishable items. Just leave donations in the back of church. Thank you for your generosity!

WE HAVE SCRIP CARDS still for sale. They are in the back of Church at SSPP, SHDC, ICC after Masses as well as at Outlaw Tee's and Shear Design during the week. Don't forget to order scrip cards for all your Summer projects. We still order every Monday and will have cards back by Friday for pickup.

DON'T FORGET TO KEEP SAVING Box Tops, Campbell labels, Prairie Farms milk caps, and empty inkjet cartridges, laser toners, laptops, i-pod, and cell phones. All of these things help out our school and don't cost a thing. There are drop boxes in the back of all our churches or at school.

DON'T FORGET when you are doing your spring cleaning to save items for the SPPS Yard Sale in September. All those things you don't need anymore might come in handy for someone else.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM CARTHAGE, IL — Carthage Community Development, in partnership with Memorial Hospital, will host a Summer Food Service Program for children ages pre-school through eighteen. The Summer Food Service Program was instituted to provide free nutritious meals to children during the summer months when school is not in session. No reservations are needed and there are no income restrictions. The children simply show up and eat. An educational activity precedes each day's meal. Persons over the age of 18 years who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled are also eligible to eat. The Summer Food Service Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by the Illinois State Board of Education. Volunteers are needed to help make the Summer Meals Program a success. The program is scheduled Monday through Friday from June 8, 2015 through August 7, 2015. Volunteers work from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM and assist with serving the food to the children and cleaning up after the meal. Volunteers will be organized into teams and work two to three days per month. Volunteers must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age, and a background check may be required. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for the Summer Meals Program, please contact Amy Graham at (217) 357-3800 or [email protected] .
