2013 HSE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL (I-FEST) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Our annual I-Fest is a fundraising event for HSE where both adults and kids alike have fun while learning about the diverse cultures represented at HSE. Don't wait to be contacted, get PRO-ACTIVE and bring your friends and families together to host or co-host a booth from your Country! Email us at [email protected] to learn if your Country is already represented or to get your Country contact person.

1. Why should I/we host a booth? Hosting a booth by one or several families gives them the opportunity to introduce their culture, rich heritage, and teach attendees facts about your wonderful Country.

2. Can we decorate our booth and/or dress up in our Country's attire? Yes! We encourage you to decorate it with items that represent your Country. Dress up and have fun! We have panel of HSE teachers who will judge the booths and award prizes in the following categories: Most Kid Friendly, Most Educationally Enriched Booth, Most Creative Booth, Best Overall. This is the fun part for adults...who will have bragging rights?

3. How much food should we prepare or offer? It is up to you to decide what foods to offer, but we recommend you to have enough to serve snack-size portions to 75-100 people. This can be done by several families preparing the dishes prior to arrival or participants bringing store-bought fare.

4. Will booths have access to a power outlet? There will be no access to power outlets, due to limited outlets in the cafeteria and to prevent a power overload.

5. What should be the serving size for each guest at the booth? Regardless of the food offered, each sample will cost participants 2 tickets. You can determine how much you would like to give to each attendee.

6. What will HSE PTO provide for I-Fest for each booth? Each booth is 10'x10'. HSE PTO will provide all booths with small plates. Utensils, napkins, tables, chairs, etc. will need to be provided by the booth host(s). Each booth will receive a "host" packet in the days prior to I-Fest with more details.

7. Can booths offer beverages? No beverages will be allowed unless it is a tea or coffee native to the Country. HSE PTO will be selling soft drinks and bottled water at our concession stand.

8. When can we set up our booth? You will have two opportunities to set up your booth: Friday, March 22nd from 4pm - 7 pm and Saturday, March 23rd from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

9. Can we have performances representing our Country and heritage? Yes, of course! Please contact Ms. Tiu at [email protected] or Mr. Fenner at [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to register your group.

10. Who can we contact for further questions regarding I-Fest? Please email [email protected] and your questions will be answered.
