It is hard to believe that Friday marks the end of our first semester of school. A quick reminder that the students will be dismissed at 11:55 this Thursday and Friday. Thursday afternoon teachers will be meeting for Professional Development and Friday afternoon teachers will be working on report cards.

This past Wednesday, Wendy, a naturalist from Fernwood Nature Center, stopped by our class to show the students her rock and mineral collection. Students were all very excited to see all the rocks. After Wendy explained that metamorphic rocks are made from heat and pressure, she

gave all the students two different colored Starbursts and explained how they can apply heat and pressure to make their own “pretend” metamorphic rock. This week the students will learn more about rocks as we start a new science unit, Earth Materials.
