2nd Reading: Col. 3:1-4 or 1 Cor 5: 6-8

The Second Reading for Easter Sunday comes from either Colossians or 1 Corinthians.

While both readings are markedly different, there is one similarity: The new replaces the old.

In Colossians, we are challenged to look at the “new” things of heaven where

Christ is, rather than the things of earth. We have died to the things of this world. We live now in the newness of Christ!

In 1 Corinthians, we are reminded to be the unleavened bread (the Body) of Christ and to throw away the “old” yeast that infects the bread. The old yeast is the world that is destined for corruption. We are foolish to hang on to the old world which is passing away when we have Christ who is Risen from death.

This Easter, we celebrate the feast with “the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

How are you living in the newness of Christ?

How are you leaving the things of this world behind?

Lord Jesus, by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free! May we celebrate your rising from the dead with joy, knowing that we shall follow you through death into life! We ask this in your Holy name. Amen.

1st Reading: Acts 10: 34, 37-43This bold address by Peter is a declaration that Jesus rose from the dead in body and soul. Peter makes it clear that those who saw the Risen Lord also “ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.”

In this Easter Season, we rediscover the testimony of the early church that Jesus did not just rise “spiritually.” He rose bodily.

We only have a taste of what his glorious body looked like. He still had nail marks and wounds, he was dressed in white, and he appeared before the disciples even if the doors were locked.

We do not know what our bodies will look like after our death. But, they will be glorious.

Meanwhile, we must believe in the power of Christ who rose triumphant from the grave! Only he can forgive our sins and only he can raise us from the chains of death.

There are many in our world today who cannot accept this truth. Yet, the apostles each went to their death as martyrs testifying to what they witnessed. They each could have recanted their testimony when faced with death, but they didn’t. They saw and they believed!

Why is Christ’s resurrection important to you?

Gospel: John 20: 1-9

Mary Magdalene is considered to be the “Apostle to the Apostles” because she was the first to witness the empty tomb.

An early Christian tradition has it that, after the Ascension of Jesus, Mary went to the Emperor of Rome and greeted him with “Christ has risen,” whereupon he pointed to an egg on his table and stated, “Christ has no more risen than that egg is red.” After making this statement it is said the egg immediately turned blood red. The Orthodox Church paint their eggs red to this day. Others paint their eggs with many colors.

Whether this tradition holds up or not, the truth that “Christ is Risen” does.

For more than two thousand years, the power of the Resurrection has changed the lives of billions of people.

How has Christ’s Resurrection changed your life?

Easter is not just for a day. Though it is the Feast of Feasts and Solemnities of Solemnities, we celebrate Easter for 50 days. During this Season, we read the Scriptures and recall the joyful experiences of the early Christian community.

Over the next eight days, the Octave of Easter, we read through each of the Resurrection appearances of Jesus to his disciples.

Comentario

Primera lectura: Hechos 10: 34, 37-43

Este atrevido discurso de Pedro es una declaración de

que Jesús resucito de los muertos en cuerpo y alma.

Pedro dice claramente que aquellos que vieron al

Señor resucitado también comieron y bebieron con él

después de que resucitó de entre los muertos.

En esta temporada de Pascua, redescubrimos el

testimonio de la Iglesia primitiva que Jesús no sólo

resucito "espiritualmente". El resucito también de

cuerpo.

Sólo tenemos un sabor de lo que parecía su cuerpo

glorioso. Todavía tenía las marcas de los clavos y sus

heridas, estaba vestido de blanco, y apareció delante

de los discípulos aunque las puertas estaban cerradas

con llave.

No sabemos cómo se verán nuestros cuerpos después

de nuestra muerte. Pero, serán gloriosos.

¡Mientras tanto, debemos creer en el poder de Cristo

que se levantó triunfante de la tumba! Sólo él puede

perdonar nuestros pecados y sólo él puede

resucitarnos de las cadenas de la muerte.

Hay muchos en nuestro mundo de hoy que no pueden

aceptar esta verdad. Sin embargo, cada uno de los

apóstoles fue a su muerte como mártir testificando de

lo que fueron testigos. Cada uno podría retractado su

testimonio cuando se enfrentaron a la muerte, pero no

lo hicieron. ¡Vieron y creyeron!

2ª Lectura: Col. 3: 1-4 o 1 Cor 5: 6-8

La Segunda Lectura para el Domingo de Pascua

Viene de Colosenses o 1 Corintios.

Aunque ambas lecturas son marcadamente diferente,

hay una similitud: lo nuevo reemplaza lo antiguo.

En Colosenses, somos desafiados a ver las cosas

"nuevas" del cielo donde esta Cristo, en vez de las

cosas de la tierra. Hemos muerto a las cosas de este

mundo. ¡Vivimos ahora en la novedad de Cristo!

En 1 Corintios, se nos recuerda que debemos ser el

pan sin levadura (el Cuerpo) de Cristo y desechar la

levadura "vieja" que infecta el pan. La levadura vieja

es el mundo que está destinado a la corrupción.

Somos tontos en aferrarnos al mundo viejo que está

pasando cuando tenemos a Cristo que ha resucitado

de la muerte.

Esta Pascua, celebramos la fiesta con "el pan sin

levadura, que es de sinceridad y verdad."

Evangelio: Juan 20: 1-9

María Magdalena es considerada como "Apóstol a los

Apóstoles" porque fue la primera en ser testiga a la

tumba vacía.

Una tradición antigua Cristiana lo tiene que, después

de la ascensión de Jesús, María fue al Emperador de

Roma y lo saludó con "Cristo ha resucitado", con lo

cual El Emperador señaló a un Huevo en su mesa y

dijo: "Cristo No ha resucitado más que ese huevo es

rojo." Después de hacer esta declaración, se dice que

el huevo se volvió inmediatamente roja como la

sangre. La Iglesia Ortodoxa pinta sus huevos de color

rojo a hasta este día. Otros pintan sus huevos con

muchos colores.

Si esta tradición se sostiene o no, la verdad que

"Cristo ha resucitado" si se sostendrá.

Durante más de dos mil años, el poder de la

Resurrección ha cambiado la vida de billones de

gente.

La Tarea de Esta Semana

La Pascua no es sólo por un día. Aunque es la Fiesta

de Fiestas y Solemnidad de las Solemnidades,

celebramos La Pascua durante 50 días. Durante esta

temporada, leemos las Escrituras y recordamos las

experiencias alegres de la primera comunidad

Cristiana.

Durante los próximos ocho días, la Octava de Pascua,

leemos a través de cada una de las apariciones de la

Resurrección de Jesús a sus discípulos.

Considere asistir a misa diaria para la Octava de

Pascua y redescubrir las alegrías que se encuentran en

el Señor Resucitado. Consulte el Boletín parroquial o

sitio web para las Misas diarias.

Thánh Phêrô đã xác định rõ ràng cho những ai thấy Thiên Chúa Sống Lại cùng một thể thức “ăn và uống với Người sau khi Người từ cõi chết sống lại.” Trong mùa Phục Sinh này, chúng ta tái khám phá lời chứng nhận của Giáo Hội sơ khai là Đức Giêsu đã không chỉ sống lại về phần Linh Hồn.” Người đã sống lại với thể xác. Dẫu sao các Tông Đồ đã nhận cái chết như các vị tử đạo vì đã làm nhân chứng cho những điều họ đã chứng kiến. Các Tông Đồ có quyền rút lại những gì họ làm chứng khi đối diện với sự chết, nhưng các ngài đã không làm điều đó. Các Tông Đồ đã thấy và đã tin!

Chúa Nhật Phục Sinh Christ in Our Neighborhood Easter Series

Truyền thống của các tín hữu Kitô là, sau khi Chúa Giêsu Thăng Thiên, bà Maria đã đến gặp Hoàng Đế Roma và chào họ với câu “Đức Kitô đã sống lại”, ngay tức thì vị Hoàng Đế chỉ vào quả trứng để trên bàn và nói “Đức Kitô không còn sống lại hơn quả trứng đỏ này”. Sau khi nói lời này thì quả trứng trở nên màu đỏ của máu. Giáo Hội Chính Thống sơn những quả trứng này màu đỏ cho tới ngày nay. Còn những tôn giáo khác sơn đủ loại màu trên quả trứng. (Chú thích: Đây là ngạn ngữ của các Hoàng Đế nói đến màu đỏ sơn trên quả trứng ám chỉ máu Đức Kitô đã chảy ra trên thập giá, và quả trứng ám chỉ sự sống mới) Cho dù các tục lệ này có được tin hay không nhưng sự thật là “Đức Kitô đã sống lại” thật. Đã hơn hai ngàn năm qua, sức mạnh của sự Phục Sinh đã thay đổi đời sống của hàng triệu người. Câu Hỏi Việc Đức Kitô Sống Lại đã thay đổi đời sống của bạn như thế nào? Thực Hành Trong Tuần Ngày lễ Phục Sinh không chỉ là một ngày. Mà nó là Ngày Lễ của những Ngày Lễ, Lễ Trọng của các Lễ Trọng, mà chúng ta cử hành ngày Lễ Phục Sinh đến 50 ngày. Trong Mùa Phục Sinh này, chúng ta đọc những đoạn Kinh Thánh và tưởng nhớ đến những niềm hân hoan của cộng đoàn Kitô Hữu ban đầu. Trong tám ngày tới, Tuần Bát Nhật Phục Sinh, chúng ta sẽ được đọc từng câu chuyện Sống Lại Chúa Giêsu hiện ra với các Tông Đồ. Hãy cố gắng tham dự Thánh lễ hằng ngày trong Tuần Bát Nhật Phục Sinh và hãy tìm thấy niềm vui trong sự Sống Lại của Thiên Chúa. Hãy xem các bản tin hoặc mạng lưới của Giáo xứ biết chương trình Thánh lễ hằng ngày.
