Our Rear Commodore’s Team with Peter Hanlon at the helm have already charted this year’s summer schedule of sailing and water sport lessons (see insert). It’s an abbreviated season due to the US Open. Stay tuned for details regarding Thursday Eve Adult sailing (and merrymaking) . Please note: SYC has the honor of hosting the legendary Shields Regatta, returning to Stillwater Cove after 20 years on August 2-3. Sailors will compete for the Jon Konigshofer trophy in honor of our 1955 Commodore and Founding Member. “The Shields” are a photographer’s delight, dotting the bay with an array of color from their billowing spinnakers!

For the “Centennial of Pebble Beach," we will be featuring stories of SYC History and how our initial sailors were a vital part of ALL activities on the Cove. We will be welcoming “The Leight Star,” a 140-ft Super-yacht, into the Cove for the US Open. Arrangements are underway for SYC members to dine onboard. You must have a US Open ticket to access the grounds (Specifics to follow).

We are off to a spectacular start!! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions at [email protected].

Smooth Sails ahead!

Commodore Denise Foderaro

Attention All Ye Ole SaltsSYC has a storied history in the category of Mercury Class Racing. Test your memory: match these “old gals” with their skippers! One has the distinction of being Mercury #1, crafted of plywood by Earnest Nunes of Sausalito in 1939. It was so successful, kits were marketed so sailors could make their own. SYC Founder Stuart Haldorn purchased 7 kits to start SYC’s Mercury Racing Fleet in the early 50’s.
