The last page of this Cove'er is a collage of the year in pictures. I would like to take this opportunity to review the achievements of your board this year in addition to the 10 social events and 6 BBQ's: Tom Duffy and Ralph Thompson chaired the committee that reviewed, updated and restated our by-laws.You received a letter in the last week containing the recommended changes which will be voted on at the annual meeting in November. We have updated the equipment and technology on the pier. During our 70th Anniversary Celebration in April We named the pier office "Charlie's Place" for Charlie Kurtmen, who has been the "backbone" for the sailing program and pier since 1972. We held eight weeks of Youth Water Sports classes which included a number of scholarships for some of the students We added to our safety equipment and paddle boats plus added additional moorings. We hosted three Regattas in Stillwater Cove. We renewed the 10 year lease with the California Land Commission. Lobster Fest Dinner Sunday, October 14, 2018 - 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hopefully you are one of the 106 members who made a reservation in time for our Lobster Fest staged on the Stillwater Pier on Sunday, October 14th. The reception starts at 4 p.m. with dinner "rolled" out onto the tables at 5 p.m. The Cajun Coastal Catering menu includes 11/2 lb. lobster per person, Cajun boiled shrimp and sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob, artichokes, roasted garlic, french bread, selected wines and dessert. Commodore's Ball Friday, November 9, 2018 - 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The pleasure of your company is requested on Friday, Nov. 9th for our black tie celebration. This elegant affair begins with a Champagne reception followed by a thee course meal in the Beach Club Dining Room. While we enjoy dessert, our Annual Members' Meeting of the Stillwater Yacht Club will take place when we honor our 70th anniversary officers and Board of Directors then elect next year's Officers and Directors. Following the meeting, we will dance the night away with the music of one of the Monterey Peninsula's longest-running, most beloved dance bands, The Mike Marotta Band. They are known for their large repertoire, covering everything from jazz standards to swing and R&B. Please watch your mail for the invitation and our website for details.

• We added 16 new memberships to SYC bringing our total membership to 400 members from throughout the USA.

A Stillwater Yacht Club membership is a sought after possession. We currently have 42 on the waiting list. We are holding the membership at 400.I look forward to seeing members at the last three events this year. The weatherman tells us we will have sunshine for the Lobster Fest this month on the Stillwater Pier. The invitations for Commodore's Ball will arrive in your mail next week. Please reserve Friday, November 9th for our annual meeting and formal affair to celebrate a fantastic 70th anniversary. On December 2nd, we hope to again win one of the categories in the Lighted Boat Parade on Monterey Bay. If you want to be part of the crew or help decorate our lighted entry, contact [email protected] with your name and email address.I have greatly appreciated the privilege of serving as your Stillwater Yacht Club Commodore during this year. Thank you for your trust and support. The strength and teamwork from your Board of Directors and committee members kept the events well staffed and well attended. I thank them all!My involvement started by joining a committee. In January the new committees will be forming. You can choose Membership, Social, Sailing, Youth Water Sports, Adult Sailing., Communications (newsletter and website) or Technology. Commodore's Log (continued from page 1) Stillwater Yacht Club Amended and Restated By-lawsA copy of the proposed Amended and Restated Bylaws of Stillwater Yacht Club was mailed to each member of the club during the first week of October. These new bylaws represent an update and modernization of the club's bylaws, including provision for electronic notice and voting.Included with the mailing is an announcement of the Annual Meeting, and a Proxy for members who do not plan to attend the Annual Meeting at the Commodore's Ball on November 9th. Members who wish to vote in favor of the ratification of the new Bylaws, and in favor of the slate of 2019 Officers and Directors recommended by the Board of Directors, are encouraged to sign and return the Proxy in the stamped, self-addressed envelope included in the mailing.

Membership Dues in 2019 On January 2, 2019 an invoice, showing the amount of 2019 dues will be emailed to the email address you have provided us. Please make sure your address is up-to-date. Dues for 2019 must be paid by February 28, 2019 which allows us time to prepare our directory. On March 1st, any non-paid membership will be offered to our Waiting list.For more information, contact Membership Chairman, Terry Russey. ([email protected])

BBQ Lost and FoundIf you are missing any bowls, plates, utensils from this year's BBQ's, please stop by the Fitness Desk Lost and Found and claim your item. The Beach Club cannot keep them much longer and will have to dispose of them soon.
