Blessed Hugh Faringdon School judged to be
‘an Outstanding Catholic school’
in the Diocesan Section 48 Inspection - June 2018
Staff, Governors and students are absolutely thrilled and proud to have been judged ‘Outstanding’
in the two-day [Section 48] Diocesan school inspection which Blessed Hugh Faringdon has just
concluded. This is a wonderful achievement and represents the ongoing improvements in this
already oversubscribed Catholic school.
This inspection, which takes place with the same frequency as Ofsted, focuses not only on
Religious Education but a much wider range of indicators that matter to students across the full
breadth of their schooling. The Catholic life of the school, service, outreach, dignity, opportunity
‘I’m so proud and happy the
inspectors saw how good
we are’ – Year 8 student
‘We met the inspectors – they hardly
spoke because we had so much to tell
them about the things we do and why we
love our school’ – Years 8 and 9 students

for celebration, children thriving [not just passing tests], our international outreach, social, moral
and spiritual education and much more.
Dr Uttley said: ‘There is no school in the area that is more committed to doing everything it can to
give our students an outstanding experience. To have achieved the top grade possible in this
inspection, following a very positive Ofsted last year, reflects the absolute commitment from
Governors and staff that Blessed Hugh will be the very best school in the area across all indicators’
