In the presences of the teaching of false teachers and a heathen society, the Apostle John sounds the call to faithfully imitate the life of Jesus Our Savior Lord in 2 John 6 he writes: “This is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands. As you have heard from the beginning, His command is that you Walk In Love.” It is absolutely frightening how closely our day resembles the day of John the Apostle. Therefore his directive to “Walk The Walk” is a very appropriate theme for our day and our school theme for school year 2016. We will strive to teach and witness to our students that you “Walk The Walk” by showing love, which means, avoid prejudice and discrimination, honestly listening to others, by helping, giving and serving, refusing to judge and more. Each month we will study a spiritual trait of Jesus to learn how to “Walk the Walk.” They are:

The Lower School Welcomes Two New Teachers!

We are very pleased and blessed to introduce our two new teachers who come to us with excellent qualifications and experience. Mrs. Rebecca Simmons is joining our Kindergarten team along with Mrs. Julie Wright, fellow teacher, and Mrs. Linda Minarik, instructional aide. Mrs. Simmons holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson University. She comes to Trinity with 10+ years of experience in working with Pre-School, Kindergarten, and First Grade children. She is also very involved with her church and has been a leader in the

Vacation Bible School Program the past 13 years. Mrs. Simmons desires to teach in a Christian School so that she is able to share her love of God and her faith with her students. In a smaller class setting she will be able to use more creativity in all of her lessons and she looks forward to having the ability to work individually with students.

Mrs. Linda Stephens is joining our First Grade Team with fellow teacher, Dawn Hebding. Mrs. Stephens holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Reading, both from Towson University. She comes to Trinity with 15+ years teaching experience in both first and second grades. The majority of her experience has been with Christian Schools. She also is very involved with her church having worked with the Sunday School and VBS for many years. Mrs. Stephens is a strong supporter of Christian Schools and states, “Teaching in a Christian School incorporates God all day and in all things.” She looks forward to giving her students a well-rounded and rich experience.

We know that you will give both of these teachers a very warm welcome to Trinity!

This event will be held in our Fellowship hall. Parents from our school, church and community who have students in Grades 7 & 8 are invited to attend to gain information on “prospective public and non-public High Schools” for their students. Thirty local and Baltimore area high schools have been invited to participate on Wednesday, September 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Four Summer Improvements

Summer 2016 has been great for your School and ELC. We thank God for three great blessings which in numerous ways will benefit every student. Record Summer Camp Attendance of 93+ enabled us to best prepare for fall. It also helped immensely

to spread the word about our school. Repairing of Cemetery Exit Road brings greater convenience and easier access to our facilities. New stage area in former chapel has been completed. Will serve as our primary drama presentation area. Gym reconditioned

TLCS Back To School Nights are critical for parents and students. They provide school, parent and student to acquire valuable insight for the new school year and to build mutual respect for one another. All families are encouraged to have at least one parent in attendance at all their students Back To School Nights, if both parents cannot be present.

“New” Believe Kids Fundraiser Kick-Off

Something Old, Something New Accelerated Reader—Something Old—is being continued. In its first year, students read a record number of books, 6,681 to be exact! The growth average, for students who fully embraced the program, was approximately 2 years. Some cases showed a growth as high as 5 years.

IXL—Something New is being added. Piloted last spring with great success, IXL Math is now a fixture in TLCS. It offers engaging math practice that reinforces critical mathematical concepts. Students are able to work at their own pace at school or at home, with immediate positive feedback and/or suggestions for improvement. Students enjoy earning a variety of achievements on the site based on time spent, problems answered, and mastery of skills.

Accelerate Reader and IXL Math are used by every student Kindergarten through Grade 8 provided by our “Inclusive Tuition!!” Middle School now offers 9 math classes to meet the needs of our students.

New Website News The goal is to have our “brand new” website up and running by August 31st. This will be an exciting moment for TLCS and Early Learning Center and you, the parent.

We can hardly wait!

In years past, students in Middle School, grades 6-8, attend Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, Pennsylvania at separate times. This year, grades 6-8 will attend Black Rock together. They will leave Wednesday, October 5 around 10:30 am and return on Friday, October 7 around 2:30 pm.

While at Black Rock, students will attend daily outdoor education classes that have been aligned with their science curriculum. They will share times together for devotions and group activities.

Please complete and return your child’s health form no later than Friday, September 16. If your child has a food allergy and you would like Black Rock to accommodate this allergy, please visit the Black Rock Retreat Center, fill out this form online and submit it no later than 2 weeks before the trip. You can find this form on their website, Black Rock Retreat Center, under the Outdoor Education tab.

“Alive Middle School Conference”

This year, Crossfire will be going back to Ocean City for an exciting Middle School Conference called Alive “Tagged” on November 18-20.

We will have the Mosely Lot Band as our Worship band, illusionists David & Kylie Knight, a dodge ball tournament, extreme hair and many guest speakers. There will also be many excellent workshops just geared for your middle school student.

This is an opportunity for your youth to share their faith with 3,000 other Middle School kids. Expect them to grow closer to God during this weekend.

The total cost of the trip is estimated at $160 and a non-refundable deposit of $79 is due by September 28th to hold you a spot. If you’re interested in having your youth attend this event, please call Pam Francis at 410-679-4000 ext. 186 or email [email protected] to sign up by September 21st. Registration forms will be available soon.
