Dear Parents,
Schools need children…which is rather an obvious
statement but I have found this week rather discon-
certing with Years 4-8 out and about! It really does
change the dynamics of the school and whilst Pre Prep
and Year 3 have had the run of the school, I suspect
that even they are missing some of the hubbub and
energy.
Year 3 have enjoyed a packed week; a trip to the Roald
Dahl Museum, Greek day, Treasure Island day and a
Science day with Professor Bubbleworks, to name a
handful of the events.
I want to thank all the staff for the past week…both
those who stayed and those who left London! This is
an extraordinary week and quite the culmination of the ‘Orley Farm Way’. The children
will be tired tonight but over the coming days they are sure to retell stories of great ad-
venture and excitement. All those returning will need to sleep and reacquaint them-
selves with their families. I know that on a personal level, Libby has missed her broth-
ers and her mum…possibly on account of the fact that her father really can’t do hair
bunches…but that is another story for another time!

I would like to thank those of you who
managed to join the PA for their AGM. It
was a really good evening in which we
thanked Linda and Harj for their consid-
erable commitment to leading and or-
ganising the many events so successfully
this term. In addition we talked about
the future of the ‘Association’ and not
making it exclusive to parents but rather
looking to unite the school community
with membership from both parents and
staff.
I know that a ‘steering’ group emerged
and more information will follow in due
course. It was also a very good oppor-
tunity for me to update parents on the
development of our very exciting website
and intranet. I look forward to launching
both shortly. And finally, we started the
very important discussion about email
and contact with teachers. As ever, I am
very keen that teachers are free to do
what they went into the profession to
do...work with your children. Increasing-
ly, this is becoming something of a chal-
lenge considering the administration
time that is being dedicated to replying
to daily emails. This is an essential point
for the future and I look forward to work-
ing with parents to come up with a suita-
ble way forward...

Pre-Prep News
I enjoyed listening to the excited buzz of par-
ents chatting at our Year 1 social on Tuesday
afternoon. I hope you got to meet some of
the parents of the new children in your
child’s class next year.
Hopefully the class reps will try to organise
some ‘social dates’ over the summer
break.
It was lovely to see so many Year 2 parents
at our leavers’ assembly on Thursday. I had
mixed emotions of excitement and sadness
as your children and yourselves continue
on your journey through the school.
All of our classes have been rehearsing for
the productions, especially Reception and
Year 2. Year 1 have had a fun week doing
group activities each day.
A huge thank you to the Upper School staff
who helped out in Reception this week.
We all hope Miss Wiid had fun with Year 4
during Expeditions Week.
Thank you children, teachers and parents!
It has been another fantastic year in Pre-
Prep. The children have made us proud
and have all made such huge improve-
ments across all areas.
I look forward to seeing you all next Thurs-
day where I know you will be delighted by
our summer term productions. Thank you
to Miss Toyn, Mrs Gascoigne and all of the
Pre-Prep staff for working so hard with
rehearsals, organising and costumes.
I wish you all a restful and happy summer
break.

Reports
Your child’s report will be in their book
bags on Monday. Please send in the ac-
knowledgment slip to the class teacher by
Wednesday 9th July.
Plastic bags
Please send in a strong, named plastic bag
for your child to take all of their work, art
and DT home.
Reminders
If you are a new class rep or would like to
volunteer, please contact me by next
Wednesday. Thank you to those parents
who have already let me know. If I know
before the end of term, I can get all of the
email addresses out to the Reps which will
enable parents to organise play dates over
the summer break. This will be particularly
beneficial for next year’s, Year Two and all
of the new children joining us in Septem-
ber.
Calendar change
In the calendar it is stated that there is a
Pre-Prep final assembly. This is only for the
children; it is not one for the parents to
attend. Thank you.

Year 1/2 – 10:30am, Thursday 10th July
I would like to remind all parents that
younger siblings (pre-school age) are not
permitted to attend as our children can be
very easily distracted.
Pre-Prep term finishes after each produc-
tion. There will be no late class on Thurs-
day.
Reception children with siblings in Year One
or Two will be cared for until the end of the
production.

Medical
Please be aware that there has been a case of Ringworm in Pre-Prep this week.
Ringworm is a common and highly infectious fungal skin condition that causes a ring-like red rash on the skin.
If you think your child may have Ringworm please seek medical advice and inform the school.
Once treatment has started children can attend school with affected area covered.
Please encourage your children to wash their hands thoroughly. Thank you.
