WE NEED YOUR HELP. WE ARE LOOKIING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR THE: Thunder Woman Healing Lodge The Doctor’s Lions Club of Toronto and Toronto Aboriginal Social Services Council (TASSC) will be fundraising at Union Station on August 8, 2013 for Thunder Woman Healing Lodge. We are looking for volunteers to shake cans and promote the Lodge with us at Union Station. We are asking volunteers to attend the stations for only two hour. There will be a meeting at Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto on July 31, 2013 at 12:00noon regarding the fundraising event. If you are available and interested please email Patti Pettigrew at [email protected] and indicate your preference of time to volunteer and whether you will be able to make the meeting. Thunder Woman Healing Lodge will be a Lodge for Aboriginal Women incarcerated in federal penitentiaries. The purpose of the Lodge will be to support Aboriginal women offenders to discover a different way of life. Building Thunder Woman Healing Lodge is a vision. This vision is to give Aboriginal women a place in Toronto to heal themselves from suffering systemic and personal harm; a place where they can grow, learn and embrace cultural values; a place where they can reclaim voice, spirit and wellness. We are at the preliminary stage of developing our vision. Proceeds for our cause will go toward hiring a Project Manager and feasibility research.
