A positive attendance was reported. When the members were asked to vote on closing or keeping the Lodge open the vote was to keep it open. There was a very short list of members who said they would volunteer their service to the Lodge. Since that night, calls for volunteers were published in the newsletter, on the bulletin board and by vocal request. As of this time we have not seen any promising response. As many of you know most clubs/Lodges function with the same twenty people taking care of ALL of the business and facility management that we need volunteers for - that’s just the way people do. Plus, we have an active kitchen to operate (it’s the law). Think for a minute how you would keep the Lodge functioning with the kitchen, cooking six nights a week, clean up, table setting, buying food, paying bills, bartending, handling facility issues, dealing with bar and lottery monies on a daily basis and so on with only seven active members. We had a LOOM meeting on March 23, 2016. Present were the Board of Officers (six of seven) plus two members. Not real inspiring. We had a Lodge cleanup day March 19, 2016. Three people showed up. Thank you Judy, Helen, and Mike Stoerrle. The goal of the Upper Rogue Moose Lodge is to be a viable Lodge so that our Lodge can play its role in support of Mooseheart (the children’s school), Moosehaven (moose member retirement community) and all other Moose charity programs, of which there are many. It is the desire of the Board of Officers that our Lodge also support local community services that provide for our residents in need. We are planning special events, with a special committee of dedicated volunteers. We are doing this as a benefit to our Members as well as trying to increase membership. This will help us reach our objective. These special events also require some volunteer assistance to make them successful. Volunteers are needed for cooking, kitchen assistance (dishwashing, food serving, etc.), bar tenders, facility maintenance, facility cleaning, lawn maintenance, etc. Some of these positions are needed on a regular basis, some when special events are planned. The position of Administrator is critical to the operation of the Lodge. If this position is not filled with a qualified person in the near future it is quite possible the Lodge would have to close. The present person in this capacity is serving his 3rd term in office and has committed to be there through April 2016. If you are interested and want to learn the requirements of the office please contact Gary Endicott 541-951-4454. The Lodge is also in need of a Social Quarters Manager to oversee the food and beverage operations as well as equipment and facility. This position plays a key role in the smooth running of the Lodge and making sure we meet the desires of our members. If you are interested and want to learn the requirements of the office please contact Gary Endicott 541-951-4454. These two positions are critical; without them the Lodge will have to close. We thank you for your membership and support of the Lodge. We are open to Member’s suggestions and most certainly their offers to volunteer. If you have comments, questions, suggestions or would like to volunteer please contact either Board Member below. When the Lodge was ready to close on December 15th, 2015, a membership meeting was called. A positive attendance was reported. When the members were asked to vote on closing or keeping the Lodge open the vote was to keep it open. There was a very short list of members who said they would volunteer their service to the Lodge. A Note from your Jr. Regent

Welcome Spring!

To all our co-workers: Let the sun shine through! The time has changed and our meetings are back to a 6:30pm start time beginning on April 6

th. See you then.

A special thank-you to all who donated candy, plastic eggs, toys, money, and special baskets for the Community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt! Thanks to George Fuller, Glen Scobie, Vicki, Sue, Carolyn, Juanita, Patti, Helen, Krystal and Brent, who came to help stuff eggs- and especially to Stefanie Willis who supervised the Egg Hunt! What a wonderful large amount was collected from our Lodge members! You MOOSE members are the BEST of the BEST. The hunt was a wonderful success! Be sure to look for the April fundraiser. It’s a SURPRIZE raffle. Don’t forget we still have the Scrubbies for sale too. Hey – do you all have a “Moosin On the Rogue” Tee Shirt? If not, we have a SALE PRICE of $10.00 each! Make sure to pick one up for yourself or a loved one soon. When they’re gone, they’re gone! I would like to invite ALL WOTM to the next Orientation on April 20

th at 6:30pm to help welcome our new members and

remind us all of what it means to be a Woman of the Moose. We played a great game at our March 16

th meeting. It was

“What does being a MOOSE mean to you? Here are some of the answers: Good laughs, Go above and beyond, To stand out, Show generosity, Teach our children, Supporting Mooseheart and Moosehaven, Meeting wonderful people, Support our community, Camaraderie with friendly people, Have fun! I say these are really the core principles and words to live by. We have another delightful letter from our Sunshine Grandma Terry-it’s posted in the dining hall for all to enjoy. You will see a form in the dining hall entitled “Let’s Get To Know One Another” Feel free to fill it out and drop it in the red polka dot box, to help our new Board of Officers that are coming in. From now on, we are only collecting box tops so do remember to keep clipping and bring them in. Have you noticed the new curtains in the ladies room? They are a small gift from me. I hope you like them. My “Certificate of Excellence” awards for the Month of March honored two of our men co-workers – A round of applause to the cook, Danny Walden, and our own Nat Ra, who has helped the WOTM with two fundraisers this year. Thanks guys! The WOTM has undergone another election cycle so I will have only one more column for you next month. Until then, Cordially and Fraternally Yours, Cynthia Oliver

WOTM Co-Worker of the Month

We are happy to acknowledge Linda Hinds this month. This lady empowers the phrase “Don’t make excuses – make Improvements!” She attends the Chapter meetings twice a month, leading us in our pledge to the flag and prayer. She serves on our Audit Committee, Chairs our Retention Committee, and cashiers for us in the dining hall. We count on Linda for Bunco day and she is the one who sends out birthday cards and does a warm phone call with a birthday wish for each woman co-worker. Such integrity and faithfulness is an inspiration to us all! Big Thank-you Hugs from all of us to you Linda!

Volunteers of the Month

Tuck Fowler and Judy Barbato Tuck! What a guy, always helpful to the WOTM and currently serving on the LOOM Board of Officers as Jr. Past Governor. He is a faithful 2# Bingo supporter and does a great job heading up this popular Tuesday night game at our Lodge. We believe through and through that he is a Moose who shows true spirit! Keep up the good work Tuck! We truly appreciate you!

Judy! She proves great things come in small packages! She keeps very busy helping wherever she is needed-kitchen cook, food server, cleaning up and showing up on Lodge Clean-up days. She makes herself available to help at our special events and her friendly ways warm our hearts. The long term values of being a co-worker shows through in her every day. We all thank YOU Judy for showing us the Moose Spirit is with you always!

Congratulations Judy Hull!

For being honored with an Award of Distinction for 2015/2016 from

the Oregon WOTM at our Mid-Year Conference! You deserve it!
