Digital Transformation of Health and Care
• Digital transformation of health and care in the Digital Single Market empowering citizens and building a healthier society
Commission Communication COM (2018) 233
(I) Giving citizens better access to their health data
The eHealth Digital Service Infrastructure (eHDSI) enables exchange of patient data across borders
• Patient Summary provides access to health professionals to verified key health data of a patient during an unplanned care encounter while abroad
• ePrescription enables patients to receive equivalent medication while abroad to what they would receive in their home country
(I) Giving citizens better access to their health data
EC encourages and supports MS to adopt interoperableelectronic health records systems

Adoption of the Recommendation on a Electronic Health Record exchange format
6 February 2019Aims:• Support Members States in their efforts to build
interoperable EHR
• Enable citizens to access and share their health
data with healthcare professionals across borders
in the EU
• Facilitating the flow of health data across borders
Challenges:
• Ensuring adequate data infrastructure for
protection and security shared health data
• Technical aspects for sharing of, e.g. lab results,
that are reported differently across countries
Health Data
(II) Pooling health data for research and personalised medicine
• Policy coordination, linking resources
• Support common data infrastructure, standards
Towards access to at least one million genomes in the EU by 2022
• Access to be provided in a federated (non- centralised) network to genomics data-sets at national / regional level
• Commission to support and facilitate
20 EU countries have already signed
• Cooperation to link genomic data across borders
• Will facilitate research and development of more personalisedtreatments
• - 3 Use cases: Rare disease, Cancer and Common and Complex Diseases (Prevention,
Pharmacogenomics, etc.)
• - 10 Working groups: Scope and Governance; Ethical, Legal and Social issues; Standards for Clinical Interpretation; Interoperability between MS; Health Economics; Data security, etc.

(III) Digital tools to foster citizen empowerment and person-centred care
By allowing feedback communication and interaction between users and health care providers, mHealth can improve quality of services and better planning/ management by healthcare systems.
(III) Digital tools to foster citizen empowerment and person-centred care
• Deployment of digital services, capacity building
• Common principles for validation and certification
• Mobilise investments supporting large scale pilots

AAL call 2019 open: “Sustainable Smart Solutions for Ageing well”
14
The aim of the call is to support innovative, transnational and multi-disciplinary collaborative projects. Call 2019 is characterised by the following approach:
• The AAL Call 2019 is open to developing ICT-based solutions targeting any application area(s) within the AAL domain. The solutions need to be embedded in the strategies of the participating end-user organisations, service providers and business partners.
• The AAL Call 2019 allows for more flexibility regarding the scope, size and duration of the proposed projects (including small collaborative projects).
Deadline: 24 May 2019 at 17:00 hours (CET)
