As a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the California Dietetic Association and Dietitians in Health Care Communities, Jo has been appointed to the public policy committee. This has allowed her to help influence the future direction of healthcare regulations, especially related to her passion of saving lives in an unexpected emergency or disaster.
Jo uses her graduate degrees in public health and nutrition to guide healthcare facilities to prepare for uninterrupted nutritious meals in any disaster. She presents at many national and regional conferences on the latest requirements for practical disaster meal preparedness. New proposed CMS regulations, disaster meal planning tools, results from recent surveys and product reviews will be presented. Jo has assisted over 300 healthcare facilities to transform their disaster meal plan from costly, labor intensive, fragmented and unworkable to a streamlined system that is regulatory friendly, easily managed and cost effective.
