From the Board
Greetings from the Board of Directors,
Thank you for your support of Heit’s Point in 2016. We are grateful for your prayers, your financial support through donations, Thrivent Action Team Grants, Thrivent Choice Dollars, designating part of your IRA or donating an item from the Gift List. A current Wish List is found in this newsletter and the web site. Your volunteering at Heit’s Point is such a blessing to the staff and the fulfillment of the ministry. We look forward to your continued support in 2017. At our Board meeting on February 8, the following officers were elected:
Joyce Martin – Board Chair Tiffany Davis - Secretary
Kirk Thaemert – Vice Chair Kraig Gier - Treasurer
From the election of Board members last November, we added Carey
Bolte and Bill Gasau. The previous year’s election gave us Tiffany Davis and
Laramey Johnson. We are thankful for new volunteers to serve and several
of these members are parents of children who attend camp at Heit’s Point. It
is great to have the added dimension of younger leadership on our Board.
The Board hosted its 2nd
work day on January 28. Great progress is being
made in clean up, repairing and improving the facilities. You are invited to
join this effort during volunteer days of Monday and Tuesday or the third Sat-
urday of the month. Additional information is in this newsletter.
Enclosed is a “Friends of Heit’s Point Membership” brochure. We ask you
to prayerfully consider becoming a supporting member. Share the mission of
Heit’s Point with family and friends and encourage them also to support this
important ministry.
The Annual Outdoor Festival will be held on June 11, 2017. Mark your
calendar and plan now to attend this annual event. A worship service held
outside in the Ascension Haus, followed by a meal of pulled pork and sides
and the very popular silent and live auctions. Activities for children are
planned and the day will end with fruit cobbler and ice cream. This is a fun
event with fellowship for all.
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors, camp dates
are on the web site and in this newsletter. It is time to enroll the children as
some of the camps fill quickly. Give them the gift of summer camp which
they can cherish for a life time.
It is indeed humbling and challenging to be elected as Board Chair for a
second year. I will seek God’s guidance and your support as we strive to en-
hance and expand the ministry at Heit’s Point and give the Glory to God.
In His Service,
Joyce Martin, Board Chair

Volunteer Recognition There are so many volunteers that need our thanks. We have started this section of the
news letter to thank them one more time.
You just elected Bill Gassau as one of our newest board members. What you may not know
it that Bill has been coming down about every other week to help on the Counselor cabin,
but that’s not all, he also brings friends. Thanks Bill
The next group is who I like to call “The volley ball crew”. It is our young Mennonite
friends that come and play volleyball, it turns out a lot of them are also in the choir. They
built the steps outside the Rinne Activity Center a couple of years ago, and a few weeks
ago they finished the roof on the Gospel Hostel. Thank you Volley Ball crew.
Thinking of our Friends This section we added to share news of our friends.
We want to congratulate Forensics ( Rebecca Jordan )
for receiving her Bachelor Of Science Diploma!
Congratulations Forensics from all of us at Heit;s Point.
Forensics was a Counselor here at Heit’s Point
quite a few years
Please keep these friends in your prayers:
Abigail Pumphrey - recovering from auto accident
Roger Hink - back and knee pain
Dave Madden - Knee injury
Thank you to Roger Hink
The new counselor cabin (The “GCL” - “God changes lives”) is well underway, all the concrete is
poured, the front room floor is built and walls are ready to stand up. If you would like to help with this
building project, we are still accepting matching funds and here is the building schedule we are working
to.
20 & 21 Feb Building walls
27 & 28 Feb Building walls and deck
6 & 7 Mar Finish walls to prep for trusses
11 Mar Install Trusses
13 & 14 Mar Roof purlins & prep for metal
20 & 21 Mar Install metal roof & siding
I will publish the interior work schedule when we have the building closed in.
If you can’t come and help, we hope that you will support with matching funds. Another way to support
this effort is through Thrivent Action Teams, please contact Mark Nolte 660-668-2363 for more
information.
God has truly blessed Heit’s Point with this project and we hope that you want to be a part of it.
Thank you to Dorothy Schaefer
The Gospel Hostel has served well as a bunk house since it was built in 2001. As needs change and
we get more family retreats we need to adapt. Without taking away from the buildings capabilities
we have modified it to serve families as well as youth retreats. It has already increased its use. We
want to thank Dorothy for providing the funds to make these modifications so that the facility can
serve in a variety of different venues.
