Serving on a non-profit board. There is no fixed formula for determining the composition of a board. Form follows function. The ability of a nonprofit board to help an organization reach its goals depends entirely on how decisions are made and by whom, so each organiza-tion needs to evaluate its own needs and priorities and build its board accordingly. Diversity on a board breeds varying opinions, approaches, attitudes, and so-lutions. It requires all of the board members to be open-minded, curious, accepting, responsive, and willing to work together.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

The endowment is managed by the Heit’s Point endowment

committee consisting of the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the

Heit’s Point Board of Directors, and 3 other members of the

Friends of Heit’s Point assembly. The Executive Director shall be

National Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Association

NLOMA Heit’s Point was honored to host this year’s NLOMA conference.

To have our peers of outdoor ministry here at our home was truly a valued experience.

In attendance were 74 outdoor ministry professionals - Executive Directors, Program Directors,

Maintenance Supervisors, and more - 27 different camps were represented from all over the

country.

Mentoring & Fellowship Instructional Sessions Joint Recruitment

Host Ministries

We thought it would be nice to share with all of you, another aspect of Ministry at Heit’s Point. Yes, we have

our own programs including summer camps, but we also host other denominations in their Ministry to share

Christ with others.

This February we had a new quilting group for the first time from Warrensburg. You might ask; What does

this have to do with Ministry? A couple of ladies from this group have now scheduled a Women’s retreat

from Grover Park Baptist Church in Warrensburg.

The First Baptist Church of Knob Noster has been having a men’s retreat here for the past several years.

Through this retreat a group of men from Knob Noster learned about the camp and were here this past week-

end for a Men’s Charge retreat. It is a retreat that teaches the men how to be better husbands and fathers.

During this retreat two men were baptized. They plan on having another retreat in 6 months.

The Methodist church had its first camp this past year called Sanctuary camp. They are coming again this

year and have already been here for a retreat with a service project and are coming back in May for another

service project.

There are several Ukrainian camps throughout the summer and also youth retreats. There is an average of 10

reunions throughout the year, plus 4-H camp, Scrapbooking, other quilting groups, and more. Each of these

provide an opportunity to share Christ.

This week is a great time of learn-

ing from our peers and sharing our

experiences.

These sessions are great sources

of information for all the camps.

Topics range from fund raising

to new youth games.

Together as an organization we

support each other in the hiring

of counselors for our summer

programs.

“And assembled as one, in the name of the Son, lifting hearts, lifting hands, celebrating as friends, and proclaiming the Lord, all our praises afford.

We are brothers and sisters in Christ.”
