This British Standard is the official English language version of EN ISO 4017:2000. Itis identical with ISO 4017:1999. It supersedes BS EN 24017:1992 which is withdrawn.

The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical CommitteeFME/9, Bolts, nuts and accessories, to Subcommittee FME/9/6, General purposefasteners and accessories, which has the responsibility to:

Ð aid enquirers to understand the text;

Ð present to the responsible international/European committee any enquirieson the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interestsinformed;

Ð monitor related international and European developments and promulgatethem in the UK.

Foreword

The text of the International Standard from Technical Committee ISO/TC 2 "Fasteners" of the InternationalOrganization for Standardization (ISO) has been taken over as an European Standard by TechnicalCommittee CEN/TC 185 "Threaded and non-threaded mechanical fasteners and accessories", the secretariatof which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identicaltext or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2001, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn atthe latest by May 2001.

This European Standard supersedes EN 24017:1991.

According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the followingcountries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark,Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal,Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Endorsement notice

The text of the International Standard ISO 4017:1999 has been approved by CEN as a EuropeanStandard without any modification.
