With 271 of the Asia-Pacific’s top 1000 high growth companies and startups, India topped the list of FT 1000 High Growth Companies. It was followed by Japan with 190 companies and Australia with 115. With 60 companies in the FT 1000: High Growth companies, Mumbai ranked second after Tokyo (134) in the Asia-Pacific region. 48 companies from Delhi, along with NCR, and 24 companies from Bengaluru have also made into the list. Among Indian startups, while Furlenco has got the top rank of 9th, LogiNext, Delhivery and Zomato have also made to the top 50, ranked at 21, 44 and 49 respectively. Chai Point has been placed at 86. INDIAN SCIENTISTS DEVELOP NEXT GENERATION TECHNOLOGY LOOP TO GENERATE CLEAN ENERGY

Indian scientists at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore have developed a super critical carbon dioxide Brayton test loop facility that would help generate clean energy from future power plantsincluding solar thermal. The new generation high efficiency power plants with closed cycle CO2 as the working fluid have the potential to replace steam based nuclear and thermal power plants, thus reducing the carbon foot print significantly. The facility was inaugurated by Science & Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan at the IISc campus in Bengaluru on 22 February 2018. “I am sure all these intense scientific efforts and collective endeavours would enable us to realise the vision of an affordable, efficient, compact, reliable Clean Energy systems which will be robust and suitable in diverse geographic conditions,” said Dr. Harsh Vardhan, while addressing the scientists.

INDIAN DIGITAL PAYMENTS TO REACH US$ 1 TRILLION BY 2023: CREDIT SUISSE

Entry of global players into India's digital payment space is expected to grow the segment by about five-fold to USD 1 trillion by 2023, investment banking firm Credit Suisse said in a report. It said that in just four months of launching its payments app, Google is already processing the same number of digital transactions as Axis Bank (4th highest among banks in India) and has resulted in unified payment interface (UPI) transactions increasing about eight times. The digital payments will further explode when the most popular application in India,WhatsApp, integrates a payments button, the report said. Payment integration into popular apps in India will drive the digital payment market in India to USD 1 trillion over the next five years.



India has achieved 20 GW (Giga Watt) cumulative solar capacity, achieving the milestone four years ahead of the target for 2022 originally set in the National Solar Mission. The achievement comes on the back of a major renewable energy push by the current government, which after coming to power in 2014 had scaled up the target to 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022. According to the latest India research report by green energy market tracker Mercom Capital, the utility- scale cumulative installations now stand at approximately 18.4 GW, with rooftop solar accounting for another 1.6 GW.

INDIA HITS 20GW SOLAR CAPACITY MILESTONE

Indonesian unicorn startup Go-Jek, which offers hyperlocal transport, logistics and payment services, is planning to launch its bike-taxi service in India in the second half of 2018. As per reports, the Go-Jek is likely to invest a chunk of its $1.2 billion fundraise in India. It is evaluating Gurugram and few cities in South India for launch of pilot project. Go-Jek has acquired three start-up businesses in India since 2015 viz. Pianta, a healthcare services start-up; Bangalore-based C42 Engineering; and Delhi-based CodeIgnition. The acquisitions are helping fast track the development of Go-Jek's logistics and transportation platforms to support its fast-growing Indonesia operations. Go-Jek has recently appointed Niranjan Paranjape as Chief Technology Officer. Paranjape will now lead the team that powers the startup’s one million registered driver fleet. (Source: Economic Times)

HOLI CELEBRATIONS IN JAKARTAEmbassy of India in association with the India Club Jakarta organized a grand Holi Fair on 24 February 2018 at Pasar Festival Ground in Kuningan, Jakarta. H.E. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Ambassador of India who was Chief Guest greeted participants on the occasion of Holi. He told the audience that Holi festival is occasion to forget all animosity and renew friendship. More than 1000 persons, mostly Indonesian nationals, participated in the event. Indian food stalls set up by the Indian restaurants served delicious Indian food and snacks. Rain Dance, Live DJ , Bollywood flash mob and singers from India enthralled the audience.

These melt in your mouth kebabs are a great dinner party option. Minced lamb or mutton grilled with a range of Indian seasoning and flavors. It derives its name from the city of Kakori on the outskirts of Lucknow.

Ingredients: Oven temp: 425F-220 C 2 Cups Mutton/lamb (minced) 1 tsp Ginger- Garlic paste 2 tsp Salt 1/4 tsp Black pepper, powdered 2 Tbsp Green coriander, chopped To taste Green chillies, chopped 2 Tbsp Raw papaya, chopped 4 Cloves 1 Black cardamom seeds 1/8 tsp Cinnamon, powdered 1 tsp Cumin seeds

FLAVORS OF INDIA

1 Blade mace 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, grated 2 Cups Onions (browned crisp in 1/2 cup ghee), sliced 1/4 Cup Bhuna chana, powdered 1 Egg For brushing Ghee, for brushing some chaat masala Onion rings and lemon wedges for garnish

How to Make: 1.Mix all ingredients except ghee and garnishes to marinate for about 4 hours, then grind to form a smooth, thick paste.

2.Knead this mixture well and mix in the roasted gram and the egg.

3.Cover and refrigerate for another hour.

4.About 25 minutes before serving, shape the meat around the skewers and place the kebabs on to a grill over a drip tray, or in a pre-heated oven (also on a drip tray).

5.If cooking them over a charcoal grill, you will have to keep rotating them so that they brown and cook evenly.

6.They should take 15-20 minutes to cook.

7.Brush with ghee and cook another 2 minutes.

8.Serve garnished with chaat masala onions and the lemon and serve with green chutney.

OLD MOSQUES OF INDIAHome to more than 300,000 active mosques, India has more mosques than any other country in the world. Population wise India has the second largest Muslim population. In this edition, important mosques built in 17-18 century are presented. By 17th century, the mosque architecture in India has stabilized. Big domes, arched gates, prayer halls and high minarets have become essence of Mosques.

Fatehpuri Masjid, Delhi Fatehpuri Masjid was built in 1650 by Fatehpuri Begum, one of Shah Jahan's wives. The mosque is built with red sandstone on a large scale and is surmounted by a single dome. This mosque is a beautiful specimen of the magnificence of Mughal architecture. Flanked by towering minarets, the mosque has a traditional design with the prayer hall having seven-arched openings. Among the seven arches, the central arch is the highest. The different parts of the mosque are beautifully decorated and are a visual pleasure.

The Moti Mosque, Delhi The Moti Mosque, in the Red Fort at Shahjahanabad, Delhi was built by Mughal emperor Awrangzeb (r. 1658-1707) during the first few years of his reign, and completed in 1663. He spent the first twenty-three years of his reign as emperor in Delhi, during which time the Moti Mosque served as his private mosque. In 1681 he moved to the Deccan on campaign against the Hindu and Shi'i kingdoms, and never returned to Delhi. The mosque was also used by the ladies of the Zenana. The prayer hall has three arches, and it is divided into two aisles. It is surmounted with three bulbous domes, which were originally covered in gilded copper.

Asafi Masjid, Lucknow Asafi Masjid is one of the most attractive and picturesque monuments of Lucknow. The image of the mosque Asafi Masjid is often used as the city’s tourism symbol. It was built by Nawab Asaf-ud- Daulah soon after the capital of Awadh was transferred by him from Faizabad to Lucknow in 1775. The mosque has octagonal sectioned minarets, which are elevated to the height of 153 ft. The mosque possesses two prayer halls, which are as grand as of 183 ft in length, 81 ft in breadth and 32 ft in height. Each of these halls has eleven arched doors at their facades, having the central doors in each hall the largest than the rest.
