Health Care
“Parivarthan”’- To bridge the gap of access to a trained health professional for the
girl child to address the menstrual health issues, RINL has undertaken a capacity
building as well as awareness programme -“Parivarthan“. The programme aims to
address the concerns of menstrual health issues faced by adolescent girls in Govt.
schools of surrounding villages of plant. A senior gynecologist of RINL -Visakha
Steel General Hospital (VSGH) along with officials from the CSR Department
organized a Menstrual Health Awareness programme at Z. P. High School,
Islampeta. The programme covers menstrual hygiene module wherein, changes in
the body with the onset of adolescence, and Do’s and Don’ts with regard to menstrual
health were explained and doubts/fears were cleared with one to one interaction. 176
girl students of the ZPH School benefitted from the programme.
Financial assistance was provided to Visakhapatnam Eye Bank and Research
Training Trust (VEBART) - Mohsin Eye bank to procure an ambulance and Audio
Visual system to create awareness about cornea retrieval and timely retrieval of
corneas & transplantations to unfortunate victims of corneal blindness, mostly
children & youth in the rural and tribal regions, belonging to below poverty line &
illiterates.

“Nethrajyothi”
Three eye camps were organized in Burma Colony, Vutapally village, situated
near Garbham Mines, and at Z. P High School, Islampeta through the mobile
eye care van. 88 villagers benefitted from the camps. Further free cataract
surgeries were carried out for the eligible beneficiaries.
Support was extended to King George hospital (KGH) to construct the
multistoried hospital complex at KGH premises, Visakhapatnam.
Education
“Shiksha”: With a strong belief that education is a catalyst for social change,
free education is being provided to around 1800 children belonging to Below
Poverty Line (BPL) from the surrounding villages of Plant & Mines through
various schools. The education is being imparted in the six schools situated in
the township as well as Mines. The project creates a tangible impact in the lives
of the economically disadvantaged since majority of the beneficiaries of this
project are first generation learners.

Financial assistance was extended to Akshaypatra Foundation to procure the
food distribution vehicle and food distribution vessels with a motto to feed
the poor & hungry children across Government schools in Visakhapatnam
district. Food distribution vehicle is procured and body fabrication works are
completed.
"Physiotherapy Assessment camp" was conducted at Arunodaya Special
School, wherein the students of the VAPMS College of Physiotherapy,
Madhurawada, under the expert guidance of their faculty members have
assessed the differently abled students on various health parameters. Further
a parent teacher meeting was also organised to provide a feedback regarding
the performance of the students. The school is one of the flagship CSR projects
of RINL and functions with the objective of helping children with special
needs to develop their potentials to the fullest extent.

Skill Development
“Saksham”: Vocational training programme in two wheeler mechanism
course which was taken up in the surrounding villages of Jaggayyapeta Lime
stone mines, has been completed and certificates have been awarded to the
beneficiaries. Programmes for dress making, and beauty culture benefitting
130 unemployed youth are under progress.
“Kaushal”: Certificates were awarded by Hon’ble MLA, Gajuwaka Shri Palla
Srinivas Rao to the SC women youth beneficiaries of the Industrial Sewing
Machine Operation course conducted by RINL/VSP through Apparel
Training Design center. The programme is a placement based skill
Development programme and has been successful in providing jobs to
majority of the beneficiaries.

Sanitation Installation of an RO water plant in K. Agraharam village at Jaggayyapeta
Limestone mines has been taken up to supply purified drinking water to the
people of the village and its surrounding villagers.

“Swachh Gram “: Construction of 60 individual household toilets has been
taken up in “Nadumuveedhi” a tribal village of Visakhapatnam district under
Swacchh Gram project to address the sanitation needs of the villagers. The
construction of the toilets is under progress.
Drinking water supply to four Rehabilitation colonies of VSP i.e. Agnampudi,
Gangavaram, Pedagantyada & Vadlapudi was taken up and every day 80,000
liters of Drinking water is being supplied to the residents of RH colonies.
Safai Pakhwada was organized in the Coal Chemical Plant (CO&CCP)
department and Raw Material Handling Plant (RMHP) department and
witnessed wide participation of the employees with enthusiasm and vigor.

Two “Bala Swachhta Jagruti” – Sanitation awareness programmes were
conducted at Z.P High School, Islampeta. Around 307 children were covered
in the above programme.

Peripheral Development
Roof sheeting work for damaged houses in slum areas of Greater Visakha
Municipal Corporation has been taken up through the funds provided by
NMDC. Fixing of roof sheeting work is completed in 5 wards and the work is
under progress in 9 wards of GVMC.
