Henry Williams Limited moved into the highwaysindustry in the 1980s, as a natural extension of a longhistory in the railway industry. The company was formedin 1883 to manufacture control and signalling equipmentand gradually evolved to encompass electricalequipment as well as mechanical, together with a widerange of related products and services.

The skills and experience gained in our original fieldhave proved highly relevant to new market areas such ashighways equipment and control systems. In a relativelyshort space of time we have become a key supplier of

Highways Agency related products, helping expand theUK road network also improving safety and conveniencefor road users.

Today, we are a versatile and multi-skilled engineeringbusiness, based in Darlington in premises occupyingalmost 10,000 square metres and on a site covering 4hectares in total. We can call on first class design andproject management expertise, as well as advancedfabrication technology to meet the ever advancing needsof the highways industry.

A SIGNIFICANTPRESENCE IN MANYHIGH PROFILEPROJECTS

Henry Williams Limitedhas played an importantrole in many of thelargest highway projects,contributing a wide rangeof products and servicesfrom communicationsequipment, parapets,pedestrian guardrails andwindshields to tunnelpanels and tunnelmaintenance.

Our maintenance skills help the A55’s Conwy, Pen-y-clip andPenmaenbach Tunnelsoperate smoothly.

The Boyne Bridge on themotorway linking Belfastand Dublin is a saferplace thanks to ourwindshield, made fromaluminium extrusionsand transparentpolycarbonate sheet.

The M6 Toll Roadfeatures our 75E postsand three types of signalframes.

The A1 upgrade betweenDarrington and Dishforthincorporates our 212signal frames and type600 and 609 cabinets.

We have also made ourmark on many moremajor projects, workingwith a variety ofprestigious contractorsincluding; HighwaysAgency, Serco, BalfourBeatty, Balfour KilpatrickBirse, Edmund Nuttall,Raynesway Construction,Stockton BoroughCouncil, Siac, AmeyMouchel and many more.
