1) Web page will load with a blank map to the right of the screen and a Map Layer menu to the left.

2) The Map Layer menu can be closed at any time to give a full screen map view by clicking on the close (x) on the top right of the Map Layer menu.

To close the Map Layer menu, click on the close (x). This will give a full screen view of the map.

3) The Map Layer menu closed showing a full screen view of the map. To show the Map Layer menu again, click on the blue button to the left of the Location Search bar at the top of the map.

4) To zoom into the map, either click on the plus (+) button at the bottom right of the screen or position your mouse over the map and scroll the mouse wheel away from you or click on the map and it will zoom in small stages. To move the map, click on it and drag.

To show the Map View layer, click on the blue button next to the location Search bar

To zoom in to the map, click on the plus (+) button

To move the map, click anywhere on it, hold the mouse button down and move the mouse to reposition, once the map is repositioned, release the mouse button.

5) To zoom out of the map, click on the minus (-) button at the bottom right of the screen or position your mouse over the map and scroll the mouse wheel towards you. To move the map, click on it and drag.

6) The map view is currently showing Truro, to search for a specific area for example, Tehidy Road Camborne, type ‘Tehidy’ into the search bar and a list of related searches will appear, choose from the list by clicking on an address option – it will highlight blue as below.

To zoom out of the map, click on the plus (-) button

07) The map will go to Tehidy Road Camborne

08) There is an information button above the plus (+) button at the bottom right of the screen; this displays a concise help guide.

Click on the Information (info) button to view the concise help guide.

09) To return to the map view, click on the blue ‘Continue’ button.

10) To view Schemes – click on the blue button to the left of the Location Search Bar

11) The Map Layer menu will load, the menu is broken down into four sections, to better view these, click on the wording ‘Proposed Schemes 2019/20’, ‘Live Programme’ and ‘Future Schemes’.

12) This provides a clearer picture of the menu items.

13) There are four main menu items.

14) To choose a base map (map type) click on the ‘Base Map’ text.

‘Proposed Schemes 2019/20’ – schemes which have been proposed but not necessarily planned or scheduled for during 2019/20.

‘Live Programme’ - Schemes which are either Work in Progress, very recently finished or scheduled to go to works.

‘Future Schemes’ - Schemes proposed for forthcoming years but not planned or necessarily scheduled for during 2019/20.

Base Map – Selection of four different maps which can be used.

15) This will open a sub menu with a choice of four maps.

16) Any of the map types can be chosen or it can be left to the default map, it’s down to preference and for the remainder of the guide, Bing Satellite will be used.

This is the default map type. It is important to use a map which loads quickly across a range of platforms including mobile devices and phones.

Same map as above but in Greyscale as opposed to colour. It can be useful when viewing several schemes in close proximity so as the colour of the map does not detract from the colour of the Schemes on the map.

Similar to the default map but Bing’s version

The bottom map can be very useful when viewing schemes in more rural locations where there aren’t as many buildings or markers as there are in urban areas.

17) Click on the ‘Base Map’ text to close the menu and click on the ‘Proposed Schemes 2019/20’ text to open that menu.

18) The map menu becomes hidden and the Proposed Schemes 2019/20 is displayed.

Two sub menus have opened ‘Schemes 2019/20’ (these are Highways Schemes) & ‘Structure Schemes 2019/20’ which are Bridges and Retaining Walls.

There is a colour key provided to show the type of Scheme i.e. Re-surfacing or Drainage

To view Schemes 2019/20 on the map, tick the box next to the Schemes 2019/20 text. (To view Structures Schemes 2019/20, tick that box – both Scheme types can be loaded at the same time by ticking both).

19) Schemes 2019/20 has been ticked so the map loads to display where the Proposed Schemes are. Where there are two Schemes positioned very closely together, they will form a blue cluster with a number of how many schemes are inside. To expand on these, zoom in on the map and the clusters will break out to reveal individual schemes. (Remember the map layer can be closed to expose more of the map).

20) Click on a Scheme and a summary box will open with information about that Scheme

21) To view current Schemes or Schemes to be started soon, click on the Live Programme text and tick both boxes, the schemes will then display on the map.

22) It is possibly to tick the boxes of all sub menus to view all schemes together; (this may take a little while to load because of the amount of data that comes in at one time).

23) To view all schemes in one area, go to the area on the map and load all the scheme types.
