ART CLASSES AT THE CENTREGLASS BEADS LEVEL 1 (adult)Tuesdays: 6:30 to 8:30pm (4 sessions)October 11 - November 8, 2016 (No class Oct 18) Learn how to craft your own beads using flame and glass. Create a bead from molten glass using a torch and glass rods.Experiment with stringers, frit, and dots and have fun learning a new hobby! Glass alchemy, studio set-up, and safety are also discussed. Registration for each class includes one free drop-in for the Glass Open Studio on Monday nights. Cost: $160

ACRYLIC PAINTING (adult)Thursdays: 10:00am to 12:00pmOctober 13 - December 1, 2016 (8 sessions)Use acrylics like acrylics – don’t set yourself up for disappointments! This fun class is an opportunity to explore skills and techniques in acrylic painting. Topics will include a variety of techniques, and explore the world of colour. Subject matter may include still life, nature, and landscape themes.

Cost: $170

DRAWING DISCOVERY (adult)Thursdays: 1:00pm to 3:00pm October 13 - December 1, 2016 (8 Sessions)Explore the excitement of drawing! Develop your own drawing abilities through a series of fun exercises. Use lines and shading, as well as various media, to develop innovative drawing

GETTING A GREAT FINISH (adult / intermediate)Thursdays: 6:30-8:30pm October 13 & 27, 2016 (2 sessions + critique Oct. 27) Learn how Cone 6 electric fired glazes work, plus how to mix, layer and apply glazes for great effects. Get a better understanding of how to create different colours, textures and effects in oxidation pottery glazes. Learn more about our glazes in the Centre’s Clay Studio, and how different glazes interact. Understand how to mix glaze ingredients, and apply them to achieve special effects. Also learn tips and techniques on how kiln firing impacts glaze results. Registration for each class includes one free drop-in for the Clay Open Studio on Wednesday nights or Friday mornings.

WATERCOLOUR BEGINNINGS (adult)Fridays: 10:00am to 12:00pm October 14 - December 9, 2016 (8 Sessions)Begin your artistic journey in watercolours! This versatile medium is explored in an introductory level course with Dan Berube. Learn a variety of techniques from applying basic washes to wet on wet techniques. Colour and form will also be explored, and a variety of subject matter will be recreated in watercolours.

This fun class will include a variety of techniques such as applying washes, wet on wet techniques, pouring, glazing, and masking. The world of colour will also be explored. Subject matter may include still life, flowers, nature, and landscape themes. Students will supply their own paints and materials with the instructor’s advice.

Wheel A La Carte 1: Use the Force (adult)Saturdays: 1:00 - 4:00pm (5 sessions over 6 weeks)October 15 - November 19, 2016A five week intensive course introducing the basics of handling clay on the wheel. This class will offer multiple approaches to centering and is ideal for the beginner or intermediate artist. Wheel a la carte classes are designed to move through the process of wheel throwing from centering to glaze firing. Beginners are recommended to sign up for sessions 1 & 2 for a foundation in wheel throwing. Registration for each class includes one free drop-in for the Clay Open Studio on Wednesday nights or Friday mornings. Cost: $187

Handbuilding: A Gift of Thanks (adults / beginner)Saturdays: 10:00am - 12:30pm (4 sessions over 5 weeks)October 15 – November 12, 2016The holiday season is a perfect reason to start your artistic journey in clay. Registration for each class includes one free drop-in for the Clay Open Studio on Wednesday nights or Friday mornings. The fall is here! Time to enjoy the plentiful season – incorporate the use of leaves and botanicals for surface decoration, try your hand at woven clay and juxtapose your clay creations against stone and wood.

ANTIQUES IN THE ATTICDo you have a family heirloom that you’re wondering what it could be worth? Or perhaps an old painting that has been passed down to you? Curious to find out who the artist is? What the story might be about where it originated? The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society is thrilled to welcome back Peter Blundell of Guardian Estate Appraisals, for an Antiques in the Attic art and antique appraisal event. Bring in your hidden treasures to The Centre and let Peter unveil the mystery with a verbal appraisal. Each session allows for viewing of up to three items, subject to the time constraint, although some individual items may require a full 15 minute session. October 6, 2016 at 10am to 5pm$45 per 15 minute session.

A presentation of two in one very different exhibits. Brunella known for her printed 3D photography and looped 3D photographs played on a 55” x 65” 3D screen “ Such beautiful and vibrant life is captured in my 3D photo’s in all its colors subtleties, shapes, forms, relations, depth and distance, and so close to almost touch it, so real as to feel part of it” Bill Ed-munds: “People & Places” Born, raised and educated in Cornwall U.K and currently liv-ing in Hope B.C. Bill’s inspirationfor this show comes from exploring the Internet with a view to producing a body of work designed to promote a dialogue on anonymity and the release of personal information. Each piece is based on images and texts sent to him by complete strangers via e-mail and after he has contact with them on social chat sites.

Meanwhile in the ovaries, the eggs are forced to say goodbye to one of their own as the time for their monthly sacrifice to the uterus looms on the horizon. Sperm Wars takes place in a brutal, futuristic, utterly absurd universe. Wilson, for those that haven’t had the priviledge, is the quintessential Motown entertainer who has a way of becoming the undisputed hit of any musical production he is part of.
