Like all insects, butterflies have three main

The Importance of Wings
• Butterfly wings are covered with scales and each one is a single color
• The wing color sometimes protect butterflies from being eaten
This tasty Viceroy butterfly has wings that make it look
like the yucky tasting Monarch

• They smell with their antennae
• They taste with their feet
Why are Butterflies Important?
• Butterflies are pollinators
• Some plants are only pollinated by butterflies
