Chess competition Last Monday our top 10 chess players took on the top Auckland Primary Schools. The competition was very fierce and we moved from 2nd to 5th place over the first six rounds with only fractions of points separating the contending schools, however perseverance and careful play saw us take first place at the end of the final game in the final round, defeating Kaurilands School and hosts Maungawhau School by 1/2 a point. Every game counted at every stage.
Congratulations to
Kevin Dai, Abraham Chanwong, Julius Hall, Rocco Gough, Daniel Stuart, Chantelle Vossen-Chong, Sreehari Muralidaran, Alan So and Khushi Pahuja.
An outstanding performance by Adam Ali - the only player to win all seven games and first place individual.
This Friday is the Auckland Girls' Chess Championship. We wish them all
the best
