Our staff of excellent educators support students in developing 21st century skills such as crical thinking, crea- vity, communicaon and collaboraon. Our families are an integral part of our school and contribute to success through our partnership. Classroom teachers wel- come volunteers. Our School Site Council (SSC) and English Learners Advisory Commiee (ELAC) provide an important voice in our school plan and decisions on how to help our students. Our Parent Teacher Associaon (PTA) works with staff on family events that bring us all together with family craſt night, game night and family dances. Community part- ners also contribute to our school in many ways, such as classroom presentaons, family science night, donaons of backpacks, etc. We appreciate all of the involvement and encourage everyone to parcipate. Excellence in Education Hillsdale School sets high expectaons for student achieve- ment and aligns our instrucon with the California Common Core State Standards. Staff are life-long learners too, with professional development and training in 21st century strate- gies. As a Professional Learning Community (PLC), all staff collaborate with each other and educators to further the achievement of our students. All students learn computer skills to prepare for their future. Intervenons are there for students who need the extra help, either through staff or innovave, research-based technology. Each spring, 3rd – 6th graders take the state test in English language arts and math. Fiſth graders take science and physical educaon exams. Our scores demonstrate that Hillsdale students achieve their goals. Notable Accomplishments Hillsdale students enjoy the visual and performing arts in many ways. Classroom teachers integrate the arts into their instrucon. Schoolwide Singbrings joy each week for our children. Art specialists come to every class weekly with a mu- sic teacher teaching our intermediate grades and a visual art teacher teaching our primary children. Hillsdale has received the Title 1 Disnguished School Awardfor three years be- cause of our academic performance. Enrichment Programs The Greater Sacramento Boys and Girls Club provide aſter- school recreaon, homework help and enrichment for Hills- dale children. These services are free to families and enhance our students with literacy, technology, sports and tutoring. Staff also provide aſter-school tutoring as needed. Field trips and assemblies bring new learning experiences to our chil- dren. Family events encourage family learning for all.

cause of our academic performance.
