Yearbook News
If your student did not get a chance to order a yearbook, it is not too late! Your
student can purchase one in the Atrium on Monday, May 18th from 7:10-7:35
a.m. Yearbooks are $30 cash or check, payable to SHE PTO. If you have any
questions, email Lisa Fazzari at [email protected].
Help Every Child Find Great Books to Read This
Summer!
Challenge: Read every day for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
Suggested Goals:
Grades K-2 Students: read 10 books
Grades 3-5 Students: read 8 chapter books
Grades 6-HS Students: read 5 fiction books & 5 non-fiction books
Georgia is proud to be part of a nationwide summer reading initiative and
challenge Georgia students to read every day during the summer break.
The Council of Chief State School Officers, in partnership with MetaMetrics®, are coordinating a national, state-led summer learning challenge to bolster student achievement during summer break.
Georgia's challenge is focusing on reading to:
• raise national awareness of the summer loss epidemic,
• share compelling research on the importance of personalized reading
activities, and
• provide access to a variety of free resources to support targeted reading and
the initiative as a whole.
Research studies show that --
reading loss occurs for most children when they are not in a formal learning environment or not engaged in any form of educational activities during the summer.
students can have up to a 2-3 month loss in reading ability over summer
Good News! Summer reading loss can be minimized.
Research shows that children who read during the summer do not have to suffer this reading loss and may even show some growth in their reading ability.

Cafeteria News
Parents – Please note that the online menu may not match what we are serving at
school the rest of the year. We are trying to stick to the menu, however we are
clearing out the freezer at the same time. The menu is listed weekly/daily on the
announcements and screens in the classrooms. Thank you for your understanding.
As we come to the close of another school year, please remember that your student
will need money on their lunch accounts for the remainder of the year. Any
remaining balance will roll-over to the next school year, and to middle school—as
long as they stay within Fulton County. If your child has a negative lunch balance,
please pay those by the end of the school year. Payments may be made by going
online to www.mypaymentsplus.com or you may send cash to school. As it is the end
of the school year, your child must have enough money on their account to purchase
lunch. If not, they will be given an alternative meal of a cheese sandwich and milk.
Lunch On the Stage
Our stage will be busy on Thursday, May 21st and Friday, May 22nd due to Summit
Hill’s 5th Grade Celebration.
Making Transportation Changes
If your child is changing dismissal routines in any way, such as taking a different bus home or riding on
his/her regular bus but switching stops, a note must be sent to your child’s teacher upon arrival. Changes
in bus routines are approved for child care purposes only, not play dates. Changes in bus stops or bus
numbers must be approved in advance by both transportation and school administration.
If your child is riding home at carpool with someone other than your identified guardian or release adults,
you must send a note to your child’s teacher upon arrival. We need your signature and approval on any
additional names of adults to whom your child can be released. The name of the person taking the child
will be checked against the Emergency Contact List and I.D. may be requested.
For best results, any changes in dismissal should be in the teacher’s hands by 8:00 a.m. Changes after
2:05 pm are difficult to guarantee success.
When emergencies arise and a change in dismissal is needed, parents must contact the front office staff by
phone as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your children safe!
Milton High School Robotics Summer Camp
Milton High School is conducting their fifth annual summer camp for children rising into grades 4-9. This camp will take place from June 1-5, and the deadline for signing up will be on the 18th of May. Please see attachments.
