WELCOME Mrs Kerryn Antzaklies from the University of New England who is doing a practicum with Mrs White and 3-6W.
THANK YOU Mrs Helen Dunlop our long term Scripture co-ordinator who is retiring. Mrs Dunlop's long association with our school community has been greatly appreciated and we wish her well.
DANCE FESTIVAL The New England Dance Festival consultants were very impressed with our Stage 2 and Stage 3 auditions last week. We look forward to seeing them perform at the Dance Festival.
NAPLAN The annual National Assessment Program testing for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 takes place on 15th to 17th May. Students are tested nationally in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuations) and numeracy.
FUN RUN—CROSS COUNTRY Thank you to the students, staff and parents who contributed to the success of this event last Wednesday. Thank you to Mr Hollinworth for all your organisation and congratulations to those children (see sport) who will represent our school at the zone Cross Country in Barraba on Monday 26th May.
CANTEEN Just a reminder that from Monday 28th May (Week 6) until the end of the term the P and C will trial a reduction in the canteen opening hours. This will mean that the canteen will only be open until the end of 1st break (11.15 to 11.45) orders and a full menu will still be available every day. However the canteen will not be open at 2nd break (1.15 to 1.45pm).
EVERY STUDENT EVERY SCHOOL What is the learning and support framework? Five key elements provide a framework for strong and robust learning and support for students with additional education needs. The elements are:
an approach to each and learning that has high
expectations for every student,
the curriculum we deliver to provide rigorous,
meaningful and dignified learning for every student,
collaborating with parents and other agencies where
needed to develop and implement personalised adjustments for the learning and support needs of students.
teacher quality and provision of sustained high quality
professional learning and support for teachers to address the diverse learning needs of students, and
our accountability to students under the Disability
Standards for Education 2005.
BEST WISHES Best wishes to Dhalara Knox, Barbara and Debra Flett, Taylor Nean-Bell and Sharika Nean-Bell who will represent North West at the NSW Primary School Girls Basketball state titles in Sutherland next week.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Our Athletics Carnival will be held next Tuesday, a permission note will be sent home this week with all the details.
Have a great week ! Ben van Aanholt
