2010 ENGINE AWARD SCORING Hino Trucks scored 822 on a 1,000-point scale and performed particularly well in engine reliability and dependability, average fuel economy and accessibility to components for service / maintenance.

This study, only in its third year, measures customer perceptions of 2009 model year Class 5, 6 and 7 gasoline and diesel engines based on either factors, and provides manufacturers with a comprehensive and objective measure of customer satisfaction with the products and related dealer service. Eight factors

are measured to determine overall engine satisfaction and include: engine reliability and dependability; accessibility to components for service/maintenance; engine warranty; engine control module (ECM); maintaining speeds on grades; average fuel economy; vibration at idle; and acceleration when fully loaded.

2010 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AWARD SCORINGWith a score of 815 on a 1,000-point scale, Hino ranks highest in customer satisfaction within the conventional truck segment. Hino performed well across all factors driving satisfaction, particularly for engine satisfaction and overall quality.

This study, now in its 18th year, measures customer perceptions of 2009 model-year Class 5, 6 and 7 commercial trucks. Within the product segment, six factors are used to determine overall satisfaction: warranty; engine; cost of operation; ride/handling/braking; cab and body; and transmission. The study also measures satisfaction with services received from an authorized truck dealer: facility; service quality, service delivery; service advisor, service initiation; and price.

CUSTOMER PERCEPTIONIn a competitive marketplace customer satisfaction is a key differentiator. A market leader differs from the rest of the industry because they listen to the voice of the customer and achieve customer satisfaction.

Hino Trucks has designed and developed a new training program to cultivate Sales Professionals who concentrate his or her efforts exclusively on selling the Hino Trucks product line. This prestigious program is called the Hino Trucks Sales Academy.

The Sales Academy concept comes from Hino’s desire to educate and incentivize a select group of sales professionals to become exclusive Hino Trucks product representatives. The training course’s results-oriented content will prove to help achieve sales goals, win new customers and increase sales.

The Hino Trucks Sales Academy aims to support the dealer who identifies the right salesperson! The prospective candidate must

• Make a two year commitment• Be nominated through joint

consultation between the Hino dealer and the dealer’s Hino Trucks District Sales Manager

• Complete a Caliper Assessment Profile (a personality assessment that measures an individual’s characteristics, potential and motivation)

Sales people spend 99% of their time on finding new prospects and developing them into happy owners. We at Hino know that there is much more to it than that. The Sales Academy focuses on indepth product training and selling skills, such as Prospecting, Customer Contact, Presenting the Product, Overcoming Objections and After the Sale Care that are equally important parts of the training experience. The Sales Academy training does not stop there. Once completed, measurable goals that must be met and maintained are set.

NEW PRODUCTS & FEATURESWhen can we get four wheel drive? This is currently not on the priority list for new options.

Are there any plans to increase the horsepower on the 268 and 338 models? The torque of the 338 was increased for the 2011MY to 260 HP with 660 lb.-ft torque at 2,500 rpm. This is the max output for the J08 Series engine.

Do we have any plans or time line when we will have at least 300 hp and 800 ft lbs of torque? No, there is no set timeframe.

Is there a chance that a tandem axle chassis will be reviewed again in the near future? The tandem axle will come with the addition of a higher HP engine. But unfortunately, there is not a set timeframe for this option.

What is the latest on the quad cabs and extended cabs? The volume for this option does not lend itself to being able to produce it at a competitive price.

When will Hino offer a longer wheelbase(284”)? The current framerail manufacturing equipment cannot handle rolling frames longer than what we offer today. The volume for wheelbases beyond what we offer today do not provide a payback on additional tooling required to produce additional wheelbases.

On a 268A, is it a Meritor disc style braking system on both axles or a true drum and shoe braking system? The 268A is equipped with the Meritor braking system, all four wheels are a typical shoe and drum type brake system.

On a de-rated 338 (other than the selected de-rated option criteria, and GVWR now 25,950) is there any other chassis differences between a regular 338, and a D rated 338? The braking system is not de-rated. We de-rate the rear springs to get to the 25,950 rating.

SAFETYHow many safety air bags are there on a 268A? We are not required to install air bags on class 6 or 7 trucks.

PRODUCTIONWhy is production so far behind on sold units? We are currently scheduling sold units at our standard lead time of roughly 90 days, if there are special circumstances please feel free to contact Hino Logistics to discuss expediting the production of your orders.

Is any plan in place to improve production lead time in the future? We continuously look at areas to improve lead time however we are limited in some areas related to the cab and engine being produced in Japan. We have worked to give dealers increased flexibility in changing specific option content to meet customer demand and we continue to expand these offerings.

PARTSWhy do we see all other dealerships VIN #’s and pick lists on the new online EPC catalog? The new EPC catalog is a server application that every user shares and is linked to the same web portal.

Is there any way to figure out if a pigtail connector is available to buy? Yes, we have a spreadsheet containing all the electrical connector part numbers displayed in the back of the Hino service manual. Because of the sensitivity and complexity of this content we do not publish this information and would suggest calling our CSR group at 866-342-4466 for assistance.

Why do Hino cores expire? Nearly every vendor that charges us a core fee establishes a 12 month core return requirement against Hino Trucks, which has primarily driven our requirements to the dealers. We remain as flexible as possible to credit dealers for those items that are past due. The 2011 core guide will establish rules governing those practices for credits against past due cores.

Will Hino ever offer money disbursements to dealerships for unused return allowances like Isuzu does? We recently reviewed this topic and it was determined that unused funds would expire. The current utilization rate is published to every dealer in the KPI report and we remain dedicated to ensuring that any unused funding is applied to continuous improvement practices for dealer obsolesce.

Could Hino provide parts and service specials to keep retention in dealerships? In April 2011, the parts team will release a comprehensive parts marketing and sales platform enabling dealers to create, customize, print, and distribute marketing materials for use by their parts/service departments throughout the year. The use of this platform will be free of charge however the cost of printing and mailing will require the use of your Parts Co-Op dollars. In addition, the parts marketing group is preparing a more formal marketing calendar, including seasonal specials and vendor linked promotions.

MISCELLANEOUS Why can’t it be easier to utilize earned co-op funds, why should the dealer have to spend the money earned then file for a credit to get it back? The co-op program is set up in this way as to be able to verify what the co-op funds were spent on and what the appropriate reimbursement should be. Our program is set up very similar to other OEM Programs.

Bob Petz is HMS’s new Vice President of Parts (as Randy Feder recently retired) reporting directly to Bob McDowell. Petz will continue to oversee Logistics department with a reporting line to Mac Uchino for Logistics.

Mark Santoyo joined HMS as our new Technical Service Manager, South Central territory reporting directly to John Musial. Mark comes to Hino from Motor Coach Industries (MCI), where he worked for 10 years, most recently as Fleet Support Manager/Technical Instructor.

Jeff Wurster joined HMS as our new Technical Service Manager, Great Lakes territory reporting directly to Steve Chiodo. Jeff previously worked for Kelly Automotive Services, where he supported GM as an Engineering Technician. He also worked for Hino Motors Manufacturing (HMM) for nearly two years as a Field Quality Specialist.

2009FY PARTS DEPARTMENT OF THE YEARThis past November, the North America Hino Trucks’ Parts Team was recognized as the 2009FY Parts Department of the Year by Hino Motors Limited. This prestigious decoration is awarded yearly based on the performance of the parts distribution center in comparison to other Hino operations worldwide.

Hino Trucks Parts Distribution Center, which opened in November 2004, was evaluated on seven different criteria - Service Rate and Stock Month; Order Cycle to HML or Hino Depot; Delivery Cycle to Dealers; Sales per unit growth to last year’s result; Account Receivable Turnover; Service Rate Definition; and Report Submission. Various measurements - sales and profit vs. forecast, fill rate, turn rate, order frequency, shipping frequency, cycle counts, and obsolescence - were then calculated to determine the overall score and Hino Trucks (North America) came out on top!

Randy Feder (Hino Trucks’ former Vice President of Parts) said,
