company is leading producer of radiator in G.D.I.C. Having new machinery and ultramodern

testing instruments.

HK industry has completed its 18 years in the field of manufacturing & exporting of radiator.

The foundation stone of “HK industry” was laid in 1992 in Nikol G.I.D.C Industrial Estate in

the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This organization is efficiently managed by young

entrepreneur Mr. Hasmukhbhai Patel.

To ensure the highest level of quality, each radiator goes through a four-stage inspection

process and is rigorously tested.

During the manufacturing process the welds are tested to a pressure of 10.5bar, and then

thoroughly tested for leaks, verifying the integrity of the Product.

3.1 Introduction to Production Department

Production is the functional area responsible for turning inputs into finished outputs through a

series of Production processes. The Production Manager is responsible for making sure that

raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively. He or she must make

sure that work is carried out smoothly, and must supervise procedures for making work more

efficient and more enjoyable.

Five Sub-Functions of Production:-

In a manufacturing company the Production function may be split into five sub-functions:

1. The Production and planning Department will set standards and targets for each section of the

Production process. The quantity and quality of Products coming off a Production line will be

closely monitored. In businesses focusing on lean Production, quality will be monitored by

all employees at every stage of Production, rather than at the end as is the case for businesses

using a quality control approach.

2. The purchasing Department will be responsible for providing the materials, components and

equipment required to keep the Production process running smoothly. A vital aspect of this

role is ensuring stocks arrive on time and to the right quality.

3. The stores Department will be responsible for stocking all the necessary tools, spares, raw

materials and equipment required to service the manufacturing process. Where sourcing is

unreliable, buffer stocks will need to be kept and the use of computerized stock control

systems helps keep stocks at a minimal but necessary level for Production to continue

unhindered.

4. The design and technical support Department will be responsible for researching new

Products or modifications to existing ones, estimating costs for producing in different

quantities and by using different methods. It will also be responsible for the design and

testing of new Product processes and Product types, together with the development of

prototypes through to the final Product. The technical support Department may also be

responsible for work study and suggestions as to how working practices can be improved.

5. The works Department will be concerned with the manufacture of Products. This will include

the maintenance of the Production line and other necessary repairs. The works Department

may also have responsibility for quality control and inspection.

A key aspect of modern Production is ensuring quality. The term quality means fitness for

purpose i.e. a Product; process or service should do exactly what is expected of it.

Total Quality Management

Car plants like Leyland build quality into every stage of the Production process. Every

employee is expected to take responsibility for managing quality issues in order to make sure

that waste is minimized and quality maximized. This is often referred to as total quality

Management and is part of the lean Production methods used in modern industry.

3.4 Production Capacity

Production capacity of HK industry is depends on its No. of workers capacity of producing a

radiator.

HK industry use to produce at least 130 radiators in a day. Even though the workers

absentees is there their capacity won’t be reduce. In HK industry there same kind of 10 each

machinery there at least 5-10 workers.

As the workers line-up is so good that it won’t reduces the speed of any worker and it won’t

affect its Production, Here the work is done so safe and quick, that it won’t affects its quality.

Here at the Production each worker use to take care of every single point even a minor could

affect the reputation of the company.

3.6 Production Process

STEP -1

Raw material of soldering is being melted, copper sheets & brass hard sheet is cuts in proper

size for the core of radiators.

As solder is melted at high temperature .than the coating machine use to coat the solder on the

brass- sheet & collected & made roll.

Then roll of the coated brass is been kept in a cutter which use to give coated brass in a properly

cut, for first core of radiators.

The copper sheet is pressed in the thinner properly cut & properly cap between; its gaps of hole of

different size & shape .for the second core of radiators.

After assembling line completes it assemble of all cores. It use to move towards the oven with

temperature of 300*c to stick the entire core properly after removing from the oven it being cool-

down.

After radiators are cool-down. The radiators are dropped in to the pond of water & being

pressured by the air to find if there is any leak in the radiators or not.

After the clearance of leakage, the radiators are moved towards the packaging part. The work uses

to pack the radiators properly & safely in the boxes & moved for the storage in go-down.

3.7 Product Packaging

When the Production of the radiators completes then comes its packaging. When the Product

cools downs then it immediately moved to the packaging Department.

Here the workers use to package all radiators with a plastic bag and it is packed in the box

and sealed it tightly.

And lastly it’s stored in the go down for the customer to purchase.

are loaded on the trolleys and shifted to the ware house where the finished goods are

Looking to the production department of the unit, unit is maintaining a very good relationship

with its employees. So they do not have any complain against the management of the unit. The

management is providing all facilities and hears complains of employees and try to solve problem

and take suggestion of the employees. But due to the human effort is having limited capacity so

company is facing labour problem.
