    Juan Aguilar Program Coordinator

Juan AguilarOn January 11th, 2016 the Hispanic League officially named Juan Aguilar as the Program Coordinator. Juan is originally from northern Mexico. He migrated to the United State at a young age and spent some time in California and Texas before settling down in North Carolina. He quickly adapted, as he became an academic stand out throughout grade school and became involved in community organizations. Juan attended Winston-Salem State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. “I am very happy to have joined the Hispanic League. I believe it is vital to have an organization like the Hispanic League as an available resource for our Latino community. Our organization gives hope, educates, and inspires all stakeholders by promoting community inclusion, education, health and multicultural understanding. I want to see more Latinos be today’s leaders and be recognized as first-class citizens for their innovative and amazing contributions to society,” says Juan.

    Fiesta Celebrates 23 Years!

    Running of the Bulls

Happy 2016 to everyone, and may this message find each of you well and excited to bring in the New Year. I am Robert Garcia your newly appointed Board President. I was very fortunate to serve as VP under Gloria Laureano and would like to openly thank her for her leadership and commitment to the Hispanic League. Gloria was, without a doubt, a positive driving force behind the success the Hispanic League had in 2015. I would also like to give a special acknowledgement to the Board Members who have ended their term recently. Thank you all for your hard work and involvement in the Hispanic League.

As we start 2016, the Hispanic League is excited to be introducing several new Board Members along with new committee chairs. These individuals along with current members, I feel, are poised and ready to bring the Hispanic League to another level. That said, I truly believe that 2016 will be one of revising, revamping, and regrouping our organization in order for a sustainable future and continued growth. For myself, I have set forth a personal goal to work on bringing more attention to our organization, to shine much needed light on all the great things the Hispanic League has done, is currently doing, and intends to continue doing. Thank you all for your dedication and involvement. Let’s have a Great 2016!

Women’s ConferenceThe first Latino American Women’s Conference provided educational sessions and a business expo involving important topics such as business, finance, leadership and health. La Noticia sponsered this opportunity for discussion of the Latino-American woman and culture. The dynamic environment ledto people sharing experiences through workshops and open discussion. Attendees were able to learn more on how to be successful and informed while participating in a memorable experience.

    Income - $268,208.47 Expenses - $313,102.73

Hispanic League income in 2015 was primarily raised from Spanish Nite & Fiesta, with Fiesta generating net income to support programming in future years. Membership revenues continued to be strong, thanks to our partnerships with Truliant FCU, Members CU & Allegacy FCU. Over 85% of our expenses were dedicated to our educational & cultural programs, community partners and events in our community. Almost 30% of the expenses went toward to our scholarship program, awarding 36 scholarships thanks to our generous sponsors. Note: due to a timing issue, a generous restricted donation of $61,000 expected in December arrived in January 2016.
