Canadian Cancer Statistics Cancer is the biggest reason for major death in Canada. The death

rate due to this decease can be controlled if patient can recognize the cancer in early stage.

According to Canadian Cancer Society, they find 100,500 new cases of Cancer in Male and 96,400 new cases of Cancer in Female.

23.9% Male Cancer Patients are suffering from Prostate Cancer and 13.9% suffers from Colorectal Cancer.

In case of Female Cancer Patients, 25.9% suffers from Breast Cancer and 13.9% female are the patients of Lung Cancer


The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Regional Cancer Program oversees the delivery and quality of cancer services for the counties of Brant, Burlington, Haldimand, Hamilton, Niagara and most of Norfolk.

It is one of 13 Regional Cancer Programs created by Cancer Care Ontario in 2005 to ensure cancer care is delivered according to province-wide quality standards.

The main purpose of the cancer screening is to detect the pre-cancerous changes or cancer in early stage in the people who do not have any cancer symptoms.

Breast screening is a method of detecting breast cancer at a very early stage.


The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) provides screening for women over 50 years of age, with or without a family physician.

Breast Cancer Screening

Women are eligible to participate in OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program) if they:

Live in Ontario Are 50 to 74 years of age and have: No acute breast symptoms No personal history of breast cancer No current breast implants No mammograms within last 11 months


Who can go for HNHB Breast Cancer Screening?

Cervical screening is a way of preventing cancer by finding and treating early changes in the neck of the womb (cervix). These changes could lead to cancer if left untreated.


It is the easiest gynecologic cancer to prevent, with regular screening tests and follow-up.

Cervical Cancer Screening

Women are eligible to participate in OCSP (Ontario Cancer Screening Program) if they:

Are 21 years or older; Have ever been sexually active

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Ontario and the third most common cancer diagnosed in the province.


Government of Ontario, in collaboration with Cancer Care Ontario, has created ColonCancerCheck, which is a province-wide screening program.

Women and men are eligible to participate in colorectal cancer screening if they:

Live in Ontario Have no symptoms of colorectal cancer Are 50 to 74 years of ageHave not had a colonoscopy
