Figure 2-9 Configuration of the N66E-18 cabinet installed with two service subracks

NOTE

l In Figure 2-9, the filled holes are for floating nuts to fasten subracks.

l The EPS75-4815A power supply provides only two 40 A inputs. Therefore, only one power board isallowed in each of the two service subracks.

l In the range of 90 V AC to 175 V AC, the output current of the EPS75-4815AF power system decreaseslinearly, limited within a specified range. In areas with 110 V power supply, dual-live-wire input isrecommended. When 110 V single-live-wire input is used, the output power of the EPS75-4815AFpower system reduces to half (maximum: 1600 W) of that in 220 V. In this case, only one subrack isallowed in the cabinet.

l When high-density boards are configured, cables in some areas are close to the air exhaust vents of theservice subrack. In this case, to ensure smooth ventilation, no cabling is allowed at least 1 U spacearound the air exhaust vents.

l Cabinet installation against the wall or back-to-back cabinet installation is not supported.

3.4 Mobile Base Station Access Network ApplicationThe MA5600T/MA5603T supports base station access networking for carrying services of 2Gand 3G base stations.

Service OverviewTo address the growing number of mobile users and increasing demand for the mobile data andvideo services, 2G and 3G base stations need to be expanded to provide a higher bandwidth.

Traditionally, SDH/ATM private line technologies are used for channels between the 2G basestation and base station controller (BSC) and between the 3G base station and radio networkcontroller (RNC).

Compared with the traditional SDH/ATM private line technologies, PON technologies are usedby the MA5600T/MA5603T to connect the base station to the core IP bearer network. The IP

69

backhaul function of the MA5600T/MA5603T not only provides an easy backhaul solution forbase stations, but also helps save the cost for base station backhaul to a great extent. Meanwhile, the IP-based backhaul technology used in the base station access network replaces the originalTDM-based or ATM-based backhaul technology, helping implement the integration of fixedand mobile networks at the bearer layer. As such, only one network needs to be maintained, reducing the CAPEX and OPEX and facilitating the evolution to an all-IP network. Currentlyin the base station access network, SDH/TDM private line technologies are used for the 2Gnetwork, while SDH/TDM or QinQ private line technologies are used for the 3G network.

TDM-based Network Diagram (GPON)Figure 3-4 shows how a TDM-based 2G/3G base station is connected to the SDH network byusing a GPON private line.

TDM-based Networking Description (GPON)In this application scenario, the CBU native TDM+OLT E1/STM-1 solution is employed.

l The ONU receives TDM service data from the 2G/3G base station through an E1 port andsends the data upstream using native TDM to a GPON service board on the OLT.

l The OLT restores TDM signals and sends the restored signals to the SDH network throughan E1 port (provided by the NH1A daughter board) or STM-1 port (provided by the O2CEdaughter board) on a TOPA board.

ETH-based Network DiagramFigure 3-5 shows how an ETH-based 3G base station is connected to the OLT by using a GPONor EPON line and then to the PSN network by using the QinQ private line.

ETH-based Networking Description

In this application scenario, the CBU PON+OLT QinQ solution is employed.

l The ONU receives Ethernet service data from the 3G base station through an FE/GE port, encapsulates the received data into GEM frames, and sends them to the OLT through aGPON or EPON upstream port.

l The OLT restores Ethernet signals and makes the signals traverse the MAN through theQinQ VLAN private line. The peer CX device then terminates the ETH PWE3 and restoresthe Ethernet signals.

Clock Synchronization

The MA5600T/MA5603T supports clocks in the mobile bearer network. It obtains the clockinformation in different ways to ensure clock synchronization between the 2G/3G base stationand BSC/RNC. The end users are not affected during a service switching between base stationsbecause of the clock synchronization.

The MA5600T/MA5603T obtains clock signals in any of the following ways:

l Obtaining clock signals on the upstream GE port from a MAN by using synchronousEthernet

l Extracting the E1 line clock signals

l Obtaining clock signals from an external BITS clock

The SBU restores the clock information through a PON line and then sends the information tothe base stations through an E1 line, clock/time interface, or FE line (synchronous Ethernet).

The base station access network also supports time synchronization. In the network, the OLTcan be connected to an external BITS clock, which obtains the time information from the GPS.The SBU then sends the time information to the base station through a time/clock interface.

3.5 Copper Access Network ApplicationThe MA5600T/MA5603T supports multiple copper access modes such as ADSL2+, VDSL2,and SHDSL.
