Sacramentos Bautismos para niños menores de 8 años: Las charlas para los bautismos
son el primero y segundo miércoles del mes. Los bautismos se celebran en
grupo el tercer sábado de cada mes a las 10am. Requisitos: Los padres deben estar registrados en la Parroquia, acta de nacimiento del niño/a, acta de
matrimonio católico de los padrinos, si los padrinos son solteros-- deberán ser mayores de 16 años y haber recibido los Sacramentos. Presentar el acta de

Baptism Under 8 Years of Age Parents are required to be members of the parish for at least six months and are required to complete a preparation program. Call the parish office to reserve a space in the Baptism class, held quarterly. Marriage: This sacrament requires completion of a marriage preparation program (generally fiv e to six months in length), as well as other notif ications. Please contact the parish office. Anointing of the Sick: Parishioners must notify the parish office to receive a communion visitation or anointing by a priest in the home or hospital.

Faith Matters—Life Challenges From time to time we face dramatic life challenges. Perhaps at our yearly physical the doctor tells us we must lose 30 pounds in order to avoid heart disease or orthopedic problems. Or, our financial planner concludes that we must save 15% more of our income to be better prepared for retirement. Or, the coach demands we drop two seconds from our finish time in order to keep a place on the team. Or, the boss sets a 5% increase in sales to insure a promotion. Each of these challenges comes from our own initiative to achieve more, enhance well being, or rise in positions of prestige. Still , the challenge we receive sets us back. We reel with the prospect. "How we will fulfill the goal? Who can manage that?!” How close we come to understanding the plight of the disciples! Constantly longing for a place near Jesus, coming genuinely to long for God’s reign and kingdom, they encountered the startling exchange between Jesus and the rich man. Listening in, the disciples expected Jesus would affirm the rich man, perhaps invite him and his monetary resources into the disciples’ fold. Instead, Jesus set before the man a Herculean task and then seemed to relegate most of humanity to life outside the beloved kingdom of God. Is it any wonder Peter cried out, “Then who can be saved?” When we receive challenges from health care providers, financial planners, coaches, or employers we may respond with our own fearful incredulity. Often our uncertainty is met with reassurance and offerings of various means for assistance. A dietitian, personal trainer, on-line budget planner or a mentor may be presented. These are intended to encourage us and set us on the path to accomplishing our goal. Jesus also offered guidance and direction to those who longed to meet the challenge of his call. Through his teaching, by his personal interaction with those who drew near to him Jesus gave direction, encouragement and hope. Even more, Jesus gives grace, the gift of his presence and power which does more than offer a pat on the back or a road map. Grace makes real what we doubt possible. Grace makes us a new creation able to enter and dwell in God’s kingdom. God’s grace and our will, our “yes,” meet in a powerful synchronicity. What at one time not only seemed impossible, but improbable and beyond our very nature, now becomes second nature to us. We meet and match what God has called us to be. Grace does not meet us not in some magical way, riding rough shod over human nature. Rather, grace builds upon the very fabric of the divine image in which we were made. Grace continually renews and enhances us, developing in us the ability to love others and God. Grace comes to us in many guises: through the sacraments, through the word of God, in moments of prayer. God’s generosity is limitless a s is his willingness to grace and guide us through this life into eternal l ife with him. This week may we be mindful of the graces we have received, open to the graces being showered upon us and faithful in our desire for its transformation of our deepest being.

Para: Padre Richard Tibbetts y Miembros de la Comunidad de Holy Cross El Consejo de Finanzas ha revisado y aprobado los Estados Financieros de los últimos 12 meses acabando el 30 de junio de 2012, y el presupuesto para el próximo año acabando el 30 de junio de 2013. Los estados que se presentan en la página adjunta y las observaciones siguientes, da una explicación adicional para los ingresos, gastos, y saldos en efectivo. El 10 de julio de 2012, la Arquidiócesis completó su auditoría periódica de los controles contables internos de Holy Cross. El informe de auditoría reconoció el trabajo que se está haciendo por nuestro personal de la parroquia y voluntarios "para asegurar un ambiente de buen manejo y control". Recomendaciones para fortalecer aún más nuestros procedimientos financieros están siendo implementadas. Ingresos Parroquiales ______________________________________________ Los Recaudos Semanales en las Misas (A), proporcionan el 93% de los dineros disponibles para cubrir las necesidades de la comunidad parroquial. En todas las áreas, este gasto asciende al 43% del total de los gastos operativos.
Liturgia y Música (G), incluye todos los gastos en los suministros y materiales que se utilizan en las misas de los domingos y los días de Guarda. Cada semana se celebran 2 Misas de Vigilia los sábados y 5 los domingos. Además a través del año son celebradas varias liturgias especiales. Durante el año pasado, 155 personas fueron bautizadas, 182 recibieron la Primera Comunión, 62 fueron confirmadas; 32 matrimonios se efectuaron y 29 funerales fueron celebrados.
La Escuela de Educación Religiosa (H), ofrece formación religiosa para todas las edades de niños y jóvenes de nuestra parroquia, 430 estudiantes del nivel de primaria asienten para recibir clases impartidas por profesores voluntarios. “Edge”, un programa para estudiantes en edad de educación media (middle school), cuenta con 145 jóvenes que participan en él. Adicionalmente se incluye el programa “Life Teen”, que cuenta con 124 jóvenes estudiantes de secundaria (high school).
Ministerios (I), de nuestra parroquia son muchos y variados, desde la Biblioteca a RICA al Comité de Asuntos Sociales. Los ministerios sirven a toda la comunidad parroquial y aún más allá de ella.
La cuenta de Administración (J), incluye todos los gastos de operación de la Oficina Parroquial. La parroquia mantiene la información de 2.791 familias y se comunica con la comunidad a través del boletín y la página de internet.
Edificio y Terrenos (K), incluye la limpieza, mantenimiento y costos de los seguros de nuestras propiedades. Este año la parroquia comenzó el Ministerio del Jardín, que permitirá mantener nuestros jardines sin recurrir al pago de un contratista. Los equipos y herramientas de jardinería, han sido comprados por la parroquia a un costo total de $13,650. Con el trabajo aportado de

feligreses voluntarios, el ahorro anual previsto aumentara aproximadamente a $27,000 comparado con los años anteriores en el manteniendo de los jardines.
Servicios (L), disminuyó en comparación respecto al año anterior. La parroquia ha trabajado para mejorar la eficiencia en el consumo de energía eléctrica con nuevas bombillas y termostatos programables. Seguimos buscando la forma de conservar el consumo eléctrico a un costo más bajo.
Rectoría (M), incluye los costos de vivienda para los sacerdotes asignados a nuestra parroquia. La diferencia con el año anterior son por mejoras y reparaciones extraordinarias.
No hubo aportes a Capital (N) como en el año anterior. Además, no hay proyectos contemplados, en este aspecto, para el próximo año fiscal.
Holy Cross es una de las muchas parroquias, misiones y escuelas que conforman la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. La Arquidiócesis mantiene programas de servicio social y de educación, apoya a los seminaristas y aporta al futuro crecimiento de la Iglesia. Para financiar este esfuerzo, nuestra parroquia contribuye además, al fondo de Apoyo a la Arquidiócesis y Subsidio a las Escuelas (O). Estas dos contribuciones son asignadas por la Arquidiócesis, basadas en los niveles de recaudación de la parroquia.
La Campaña Anual del Arzobispo (P) se financia con las contribuciones de los feligreses que dan directamente a la Arquidiócesis. En el año calendario 2011, la contribución recibida de los feligreses estuvo por debajo de la meta a recaudar. Al igual que los años anteriores, la parroquia está en la obligación de aportar la diferencia. La parroquia previene el cumplimiento de esta meta cada año y tiene ingresos operativos que no se presupuestan con el fin de poder cubrir el déficit.

La parroquia mantiene dos Cuentas de Ahorros con la Arquidiócesis (E). La primera, Ahorros para Operación, son destinados específicamente para cubrir las necesidades en la operación de trabajo ante una situación financiera inesperada, así como para cubrir los saldos negativos de efectivo en la Cuenta de Operación (Q). La segunda es Ahorros para Activos (S), es el fondo reservado para reparaciones de los Activos de la parroquia representado en las propiedades de acuerdo a su tamaño y antigüedad.

Los resultados financieros de este último año fiscal, son favorables. Esto es importante teniendo en cuenta que en los últimos tres años consecutivos, la parroquia ha incurrido en déficits operativos. Continuamos buscando la forma de economizar para garantizar que los Gastos de Funcionamiento no sean mayores que lo recaudado en las Colectas Semanales.
Somos una parroquia afortunada, pues seguimos teniendo una buena posición de Caja y Efectivo sin tener deuda alguna. El presupuesto para el año en curso, ha sido preparado en los actuales niveles de la Colecta, y no está basado en tener que hacer uso de los ahorros para mantener la operación de la parroquia.
El Consejo de Finanzas se reúne mensualmente para revisar los resultados, asesorar al párroco en el cumplimiento de los objetivos financieros y proporcionar información financiera transparente a la parroquia. WOMEN’S CLUB MEETING—Oct 16 The Women’s Club will be meeting Tuesday, Oct 16th. We meet in rooms 7 & 8 in the school of religion building starting at 7pm. Our project this month is knitting or crocheting hats and scarves for our troops. If you don’t know how to knit or crochet, there will be someone to show you how or just come and visit with everyone. Many hands are needed to work on this project so we hope you plan on attending. All ladies of the parish are invited to come. Embrace Ministry On October 20th, 2012 the Archdiocese of Atlanta Embrace Ministry will be hosting the 2nd Annual Infant Loss Remembrance Walk, Prayer Service & Butterfly Release for those families who have lost a baby from miscarriage, stil lbirth or infant death. This is a day when parents come together and are embraced by the love and support from their friends and families. The walk wil l be held at the church of Saint Andrew, 675 Riverside Rd., Rowell, GA 30075. Check-in begins at 9:00 AM and the walk starts at 10:00 AM. Journey of Hope (DivorcedCatholic.org) Workshop Series DivorcedCatholic.org is hosting a variety of one-day workshops to help divorced and separated Catholics. These workshops are designed to help separated or divorced Catholics in addressing the key issues they face. The participants will gain new insights and strategies to better handle these very important challenges. The first series will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2140 Beaver Ruin Rd, Norcross GA 30071. WHAT IS IT? A partnership w ith the rural Nicaraguan community of El Moto and Holy Cross Catholic Church to deliver and connect 1 Mile of 2� PVC w ater pipe. The pipe w ill carry 3 million gallons of w ater each year to the village. WHAT ARE THE ROLES OF THIS PARTNERSHIP? Community El Moto: 10% of the cost of the pipe and 100% of the labor. Holy Cross Catholic Church: 90% of the cost of the pipe and installation. HOW CAN HOLY CROSS ACHIEVE THIS GOAL? By complete the 1 Mile Board. WHAT IS THE 1 M ILE BOARD? The cost of the pipe and installation is $1 per foot. The 1 Mile Board has 100 numbers on it, ranging from 1 to 100. Part icipants take one of the numbers, commit to donate that amount (for example, if you take the number 24, you donate $24.) When all numbers are taken, w e have reach our goal ($4950).
