HISTORICAL WAX MUSEUM—THIS THURSDAY, FEB. 6TH—12:30-1:15PM A highlight for Holy Cross fourth graders is participating in the Historical Wax Museum, which takes place annually in February. Each student chooses a character who they would like to learn more about and portray in the museum. They research facts about their character, write a speech using what they learn, and commit it to memory. On the day of the event, the students dress in full costume and have many props as well. When the guests push a button on the hand of each of them, the characters “come to life” and tell about their life. The 19th annual Wax Museum is this Thursday, February 6th from 12:30—1:15 p.m. in the gym. All are welcome to attend.

Hello! We are very excited to offer this new opportunity at Holy Cross. The Biz Kidz Expo and Workshop will be an experience where children can be creative and take chances in a safe, hands-on learning environment. Here is what you need to know about Biz Kidz:

The Holy Cross Biz Kidz Expo will be Tuesday, March 10th, in two portions – at the end of the school day and open to the community from 5PM to 7PM. Businesses need to be open for both portions.

Children in grades K to 8 may participate as vendors at this expo. Siblings or friends may create a business partnership and work together as one business with parent permission and coordination to work collaboratively on the business.

Space could limit the number of participants, so please register early to hold your spot. Choosing your business and creating your product may take time, and you may change your mind throughout the process – that is okay! Get registered now, and let us know if you make any changes.

Children are asked to make or do something with their own hands. You may NOT purchase products to resell. We want to discourage parents from getting too involved. We truly want this to be done by the kids. The reason for this emphasis is that they will learn better if they do the work.

In order for this to be an authentic learning experience, we recommend that your child purchase their supplies with their own money. Spending Dad & Mom’s money is easier than spending their own! If they need help, consider working out a loan agreement, where they pay you back from their earnings after the fair.

Workshop – we will offer an optional workshop {FREE} to all registered participants. This will be Saturday, February 29th, from 10am to 12pm at the school. We will work with the attendees to brainstorm their business ideas (if needed), discuss marketing, pricing, displays, customer service, and more. *You must be registered in advance to attend the workshop so that we can have supplies ready.

Everyone will be provided with one table. Each business owner is responsible for all other supplies to run their business. If you know you will need access to an outlet, please make sure to note that on the registration so we can make sure your booth is near one. You will need to provide your own power cords.

If your business involves food or other potentially messy things, please be prepared to clean up afterwards. We will have some trash cans located throughout the expo.

All participants will be expected to help advertise for the expo. We will provide 4 flyers per student for promotion. You may pass out more, make a video to advertise, share with family and friends, post on community bulletin boards, etc.

If you are ready to register, please complete the attached form and return it to the school office ASAP, no later than February 7th.
