CYO BASKETBALL As our basketball season come to an end, we want to congratulate our 7th Grade Boys Gold Team for completing their very successful community service project “Baskets for Blythdale.” The boys collected sponsors for their team and for each basket scored in their last four games of the season, a donation was made. Later this month they will be visiting Blythdale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla to deliver over $1,000 in donations that will directly benefit the children at the hospital and their families!! Fantastic job everyone! Many thanks for everyone who made this project a huge success: Nicky Doto, Conor Bruder, Jared Wilens, Daniel Bucci, James Braia, Michael Rufino, Frank Shkreli, Christian DeJesus, Cole Catalano The team’s Head Coach is Carlos DeJesus along with Assistant Coaches: Ethan Wilens, Brian Catalano, David Wilens and Sal Doto. Thanks to Brian Bruder, Team Community Service Coordinator for organizing the service project.

HOLY THURSDAY “As I have done for you, you should also do”
(John 13:15) April 2nd is Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which includes the “Washing of the Feet.” If you would like to be a part of this moving ceremony, please call the Parish Office at 769-0025.
A Wedding Ring has been found in the church (by the Blessed Mother shrine). If you have lost or know of someone who has recently lost a Wedding Ring, please stop by the Parish Office.
BREAKFAST RUN There will be a Breakfast run on April 12th. There will be posters in the Social Hall requesting volun-teers to supply the food needed. Please sign up and bring the food to Holy Innocents by Saturday, April 11th.

Confirmation Candidates, Sponsors, and Parents are invited to join us – ask them to please come. We will gather in the Church. Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is a role model for all of us. She lived an incredible life. With each event in her life we can gain strength and encouragement to be the best people possible. The presentation will be lead by Rosemarie Pamillia. Rosemarie is a Parishioner, Mother, and Catechist at Holy Innocents (early dis-missal). Service Reports due Thurs March 26th – all com-pleted Acts of Service need to be submitted. If you have not performed them yet (maybe you are help-ing with First Communion in May) then let me know that. Either give me a form for the completed Ser-vice or a note about what and when you will per-form the service. For Happy Caps I will sign the forms.

This week we are introducing a new hymn, Christ Before Us. It is #408 in our hymnal and was writ-ten by Janet Sullivan Whitaker. The title and first verse are based on St. Patrick’s breastplate.
St. Patrick's Breastplate is a popular prayer attrib-uted to Ireland’s most beloved patron saint. Ac-cording to tradition, St. Patrick wrote it in 433 A.D. for divine protection before successfully convert-ing the Irish King Leoghaire and his subjects from paganism to Christianity. The term breastplate refers to a piece of armor worn in battle. More recent scholarship suggests its author was anony-mous. In any case, this prayer certainly reflects the spirit with which St. Patrick brought our faith to Ireland.
The tune is based on Suo Gan, a traditional Welsh lullaby, written by an anonymous com-poser. It was first recorded in print around 1800. The song’s title simply means lullaby in Welsh (suo=lull, cân = song).
Janèt Sullivan Whitaker (pronounced Janette) is a talented cantor, keyboardist, percussionist, com-poser and clinician. She has presented work-shops on cantor dynamics, lector formation, par-ish repertoire, song of the assembly and keyboard improvisation. She is a 25-year veteran of active music ministry in the Diocese of Oakland, California.
As cantor, Janèt has led the assembly at many liturgical events, including National Association of Pastoral Musicians conventions. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from California State University, Hayward. Janèt is a contributing composer and singing member of the Daughters of God, a group of women musicians committed to contemporary Christian music.
Currently she serves as full-time director of music and liturgy at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Piedmont, California, where she lives with her husband, Brian, and their son. We have used several of Janèt’s compositions in our liturgies
including Wash Me Clean and In Every Age.

PARISH COUNCIL The Parish Council of Holy Innocents is comprised of dedicated parishioners willing to share their individual talents to serve the par-ish. The council works with the pastor and par-ish staff in an advisory capacity to support and enhance the life of the parish. Each year, new members are added to the council via a selection process. This year the council is hoping to add four new members to serve for a term of three years. Nominating petitions are available in the narthex, parish hall and at Our Lady of Pompeii and on the parish website: www.hiparish.org during the month of March. At this time, please give prayerful consideration to volun-teering as a member of the Parish Council. First Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34
The Lord comforted his people, who were exiled to Babylon, by telling them of the new covenant he planned to make with them. The Lord declared he would write his law upon their hearts, and that he would forgive their evil and forget the sins they had committed in the past.
Second Reading: Hebrews 5:7-9
Though God could have heeded his Son’s prayers and spared him suffering, Jesus accepted his Fa-thers will. Through his suffering, he learned obedi-ence and became the source of eternal salvation for all people.
Gospel: John 12:20-33
Jesus was afraid of the suffering he knew he must face. Yet he explained just as a grain of wheat must die to be harvested, he had to face his hour of suffering to glorify his Father’s name. Jesus ex-plained that once he was lifted from earth, he could draw all people to himself, lifting them to
