Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Our Mission Statement: The mission of Holy Redeemer Parish is to be a Catholic community centered in Christ as revealed through the Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradion and the Church's teaching authority. The Holy Spirit empowers us to reach out and build God's Kingdom as we worship, educate, serve and evangelize. With Mary we sing: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-47, NIV). Welcome to worship. Have you ever wished an angel would appear to tell you what God wants you to do? You wouldn’t have to guess any more. Such messages are not the norm. Perhaps it is because God gave us free will and such direct messages might make us feel like we had no choice. God wants us to be free to choose what is good and right. To hear what God wants of us, we must make the effort to discern God’s will by reading Scripture, listening to the Church teachings and praying for the guidance of the Spirit. As we become more open to the promptings of the Spirit, what we are called to do will become clearer. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge. ~Psalm 18:2 Updated Holiday Mass Schedule We are back to the new “normal” allowing 70 people per each Mass. • Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Our Mission Statement:

The mission of Holy Redeemer Parish is to be a Catholic community centered in Christ as revealed through the Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Church's teaching authority.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Our Lady of the Sea, Court #2405 has set up a fund for a scholarship to be given in the Spring of 2021, to a woman 25 years or old or older who

has financial need to continue her education. This will be presented in memory of Judy Bradley who worked so hard over the years and believed in our mission to assist women in their education. In previous years we have hosted an annual Tea with a purse auction with all proceeds going only into our scholarship fund; we have presented over $15,000.00 in scholarships over the years. Due to Covid-19, we had to cancel the 2020 Tea but did award two, $2,000.00 scholarships from the previous year's fundraising; we will not be able to have the 2021 Tea for the same reason. We pray that this Pandemic will end soon and we can once again host our Annual Tea and provide future scholarships. If you are interested in donating to this special fund, in memory of Judy Bradley, please make a check out to Catholic Daughters of the Americas; in the memo area of your check, note that it is for the scholarship fund. Send to Susan Kulick, 68248 North Bay Road, North Bend, Oregon 97459. We will be accepting donations through the end of December. We thank you for all of the support you have given our Court throughout the years and know that there are women in our community that have benefited from your generosity. God Bless you always. Please call 541-297-0552 with any questions. Scholarship committee for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Our Lady of the Sea, Court #2405

PLEASE, DO NOT COME TO MASS IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL.

    The heart of home

During a road trip one dreary, drizzly December day, I thought about how traveling is an act of faith — both now and in Bible times. Unlike Mary and Joseph with a donkey, I have more horse-power, yet I still rely on God to navigate through detours and delays. On that particular journey, some friends who were away let us stay in their home, and it was such a haven. We turned on cozy lighting, got in our pajamas and heated homemade soup I’d brought. Those simple comforts symbolized warmth, home, nourishment. It was the welcome Mary must have longed for after her difficult trip. After our meal, God’s word fed my soul and I prayed: “Lord, I want my heart to be as warm and welcoming to you as this place to stay has been for us. Make me a place where you are invited, honored and welcomed — a peaceful haven for your Son.” —Monica Wilkinson
