SUNDAY’S REFLECTION: Awaiting the Salvation of God The world does not seem big enough to contain the jubilation of the first reading. In the Gospel reading, the Roman empire isn’t big enough, either. The great pow-ers of Rome are named and made to stand waiting for the arrival of God’s salvation. And we find Paul medi-tating joyfully on what really matters. According to Baruch, the city of Jerusalem is like a person standing on tiptoe looking for God’s salvation, which is coming from the east. Those who were led away on foot, heads down, now come back, a proud people. Why, the very way is smoothed out. The path is lined with fragrant, lush trees. It can’t get any better than this, can it? Well, yes, it can. For a voice calls out in the desert. Here is the be-ginning of the salvation of God.

REST IN GOD’S ETERNAL LOVE & PEACE:

Our Parish Community wishes to extend our sympathy to the family and friends of all the faithful departed especially, Carol Carnes Schaefer.

JESUS IS CALLING During this time of Advent, expectation of the coming Messiah, what better way to prepare than giving the gift of time to Our Lord in adoration. He waits, every Friday from 9:30am to Saturday at 9am, in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, but so few visit their King. We are especially in need of worshipers early Saturday mornings, be-tween the hours of 1am - 4am. Consider taking turns with someone to cover these hours. They are espe-cially meritorious!

NOTE FROM OUR ADMINISTRAT0R

Dear Holy Spirit Church Family,

May the Advent Season that is upon us, help each of us to understand the mystery of God’s love for us in our daily lives.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, the Finance Council and I have recently noticed a decline in our Sunday Collection. Our initial review suggests that your contributions have shifted to our capital campaign project, Our Lady of Grace Pastoral Center. These generous contributions are greatly appreciated for the renovation and expansion of Doyle Hall and therefore may only be used for this purpose. The daily operation of our Parish counts on our Sunday Collections. As you may realize, the cost of living has been increasing. For the Church, this means an increase in minimum wages, utilities like water, electricity, garbage pick-up etc...

As good stewards of your gifts to the Parish, we, the Parish priests and staff, are making a conscious effort to conserve energy and reuse office supplies wherever possible. Further studies are in place and we hope to share further details at a later time. In the meantime, if God has blessed you financially, we ask that you would consider increasing your weekly contribution by at least $1 per person in your family. If everyone who attends Mass would participate, our Parish operational expenses should be able to be maintained. Again, thank you for your love and ongoing support to our Parish.

Fr. Joseph Thuong Tran
