“We exist to love and know God more deeply, to grow more

like Jesus each day, and to reach the world in the power of the

Holy Spirit with the message of the Cross and the Resurrection

beginning in the Mulberry community.”

Make His Place Your Home

Baptist Home Family,

“ behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “ Joseph, son of

David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is

of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for

He will save His people from their sins.”

Without a doubt these are some of the greatest words ever spoken to the ears of

man. Can you imagine what it would have been like to be the angel chosen to bring that

good news? We're not told in Matthew's gospel who the angel of the Lord is. In Luke's

not find him. But now, they seek for a Savior born as a baby in Bethlehem and when they

found Him they left rejoicing and praising God for what they found in the manger. Today

we are still rejoicing, that the God of heaven would love us so much the He would send

His one and only son into our world, to be our Savior. Thank you God, for the Greatest

Christmas gift of all... Jesus! Savior of the world!

On behalf of Tammie and myself, we want to wish each and everyone of you a

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! We pray God's richest blessings over you and

through you. We pray that the Lord will fill you with His presence..that He will renew you

Student Ministry

The beloved Christmas song above reminds all of

us of a truly important reflection as Christians

approaching this Christmas season. In the student

ministry, we are offering a devotional from Youth

Ministry 360 designed to usher teenagers into an

attitude of listening. The devotional is based upon a focused season of reflection known as Advent

that has been passed down through church history. It was a season created for the church to help her

in anticipating that Jesus is coming again! Much like the night of Jesus’ birth, many rejoiced and

praised God for His marvelous gift. Now, the church anticipates another coming of Jesus, His

glorious second coming to redeem His people for all eternity!

While not all Christians may practice the specific reflections of the Advent season, all would more

than likely agree that Jesus is the reason for the season. Consider in ancient times the expectation of

the promised Messiah and how God’s people were looking forward to His birth. For many people

surrounded by the “busy-ness” of Christmas, they miss out on the real reasons we rejoice and celebrate

this wonderful time of the year. Is it a common practice for you to take time during the holiday season

to pause and reflect on the truth and wonder of Christmas – the promised Jesus who stepped out of

heaven to come to earth on a rescue mission to restore a broken world. As you read these words from

Matthew, think deeply about the wonderful news ingrained in them: “And she will have a son, and

you are to name Him Jesus, for he will save His people from their sins. All of this occurred to fulfill

the Lord’s message through His prophet: ‘Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will birth to a

son, and they will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.” My prayer for us all this

Christmas season is that these great truths will grow deeply in our hearts as we pause to reflect on the

real reason we celebrate and should look forward to the coming Messiah.

Christmas Gifts for Inmates It is that time of year again when we are collecting money for the Inmates Christmas sacks here in Wilkes. You will have an opportunity to contribute to this ministry from now until mid December. You can write a check to Wilkes Prison Ministry or give cash. Give your contributions to Doug Laws, Frank Shealy or the church office. The cost of each bag is about $14. When the bags are distributed it is the only time of the year that every inmate will be in the Chapel. Items they receive are combs, lotion, tooth brushes, tooth paste, paper, envelopes, pens, soap, other hygiene items, along with cards, candy, cookies. Bibles and tracts are available if they want them. Please pray for the inmates and prison ministry.

Dear Church Family,

Thank You so much for your continued care and concern for me and

my family. Your cards, calls, words of encouragement and continued support

through my illness has been a wonderful blessing. Thank You most of all for

your prayers .. Please continue praying. Love, Dottie Shealy

Dear Baptist Home Church Family,

It is difficult to find the words

to express my love and appreciation

for you for all the prayers, love and

support you have given to me and my

family during 2016. In January, my

daughter-in-law, Bea, as well as my

husband, Todd, passed away. In

August, my mother- in- law, Dolly,

passed away. This has been a very

difficult year but I have always had

the support of my church family and

the strength that only God could give.

Thank You for every prayer

you prayed and every kindness you

have shown.

God Bless You, Everyone!

Hometown Kids Baptist Home Baptist Church

Where children are TREASURED

Come, thou long expected Jesus Born to set Thy people free

From our fears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in Thee

Israel’s strength and consolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art,

Dear Desire of every nation Joy of every longing heart

In our home, one of my favorite Christmas decorations is a simple dowel rod tree. Several years ago, we

began using that tree as an “advent” calendar to count down to Christmas. I painted small wooden stars and

on each star wrote a name of Jesus on the front with a corresponding scripture reference for each name on

the back. Each day leading up to Christmas as part of our devotions, we would place a star on that tree.

Of all the names on those stars, my very favorite is Immanuel. It means God WITH us. John 1:14 says:

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” The Amplified version of the Bible translates the

wording this way: “And the Word (Christ) became flesh (Human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent

of flesh and lived awhile) among us….and we actually saw His glory, full of grace and truth.”

Did you get that? He tabernacled. He fixed His tent of flesh and lived awhile among us. He was WITH us.

Don’t you just love that?

But, do you know…He didn’t have to? He CHOSE to.

Our children are working on our Christmas program: “Tree-Mendous Love”. My favorite line from that

program occurs in a discussion about the Cross. The child speaker is sad because of the cross that is part of

the Christmas story. Here’s how it goes:

Adult: Jesus’ whole purpose for coming to the earth as a baby was so he could one day die on the cross.

Child: You mean…he KNEW? He knew when he came as a baby that he would have to die on the cross?

Adult: Yes….He knew.

Child: And he came anyway?

Adult: Yes! He came anyway. And that is what makes Christmas So special.

You know what? Jesus knew. He knew that when He came as a baby….He would grow up, suffer agony

and die on a cross…..but, He.Came.Anyway.

And you know what else? He came FOR you….He came to be WITH you…He came because He LOVES

you.

He came to be our Immanuel. And I am SO thankful!

I hope you will make plans to join us on December 11 at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary for the presentation of Tree

-Mendous Love by Hometown Kids Ministry. You’ll be blessed.

I wish for you a Very Merry Christmas…..

Until next time,

Tammie Jones
