Father Rob’s Reflections
May 2019
Dear Holy Trinity Family,
While there is all sorts of news and
happenings, I am choosing to pick one of
great significance to us all. Soon we will be
part of an electing convention for the
purpose of hearing God call a new Bishop
to partner with us in leading the Episcopal
Church in Vermont. But prior to that on
May 18th
, the delegates you selected in
January for Convention will be voting on
our new Bishop. Since our very name
“Episcopal” means Bishop, obviously this is
a momentous event. If you are not a
delegate, what can you do to be a part? You
can first and foremost keep this in your
prayers. Look at the candidates, pray over
their images and stories, and ask God to
guide our hearts, minds, and souls to choose
the person that is best suited to our ministry
in Vermont. Ask God to direct the
delegates with calmness and assurance in
their thoughts and deliberations. And
believe for an outcome that is perfect in
God’s economy. Shortly after that, on June
2nd
at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Burlington,
commencing with Evensong at 5pm and
followed by a reception and presentation,
the northern part of the state will say
goodbye to Tom and Ann Ely. I know you
will want to attend to wish them well. All
of this requires much prayer and work. But
it is worth it. As believers in apostolic
succession, the choice of a Bishop leader is
part of our spiritual and organizational
DNA. He or she is part of our very belief
system in this one, holy catholic and
apostolic Church. Good things are
continuing to manifest both at Holy Trinity

spiritual and organizational DNA. He or
she is part of our very belief system in this
one, holy catholic and apostolic Church.
Good things are continuing to manifest both
at Holy Trinity and our Diocese. Pray that
Christ’s light continues to grow as a beacon
of love and inclusion.
Happy Eastertide.
In Christ’s love,
Father Rob

Sat, May 18, 8 am-3 pm Holy Trinity’s Outreach Team does two fundraisers a year. We do the parish garage sale, Silver to Sawdust, and Bonnie’s Pie Sale in November. We need your help with the upcoming Silver to Sawdust sale. If you have any items that you don’t need or use, please consider donating them to our sale. The whole Village of Swanton is having a garage sale on this day; folks will be out looking for treasures. You may drop things off at the Parish Hall starting on Mon, May 13 and throughout the week. We will cover them and price them on Friday. If for some reason you cannot get them to church, we will pick items up. You can reach us at 868-2824. Thank you for your generosity, The Outreach Committee
Things That Make You Say,Alleluia!
For the past eight years, your generosity in this
annual appeal—today known as the Alleluiafund—has generated nearly $400,000.
Because of your generosity in 2017 and 2018, the Alleluiafund exceeded its goal. This means, not only did we meet our predetermined commitments to Rock Point Camp, Rock Point Property, and various local and global outreach ministries, but we were also able to provide additional funding for many more things that make you say, “Alleluia!” The Alleluiafund supports vital ministries that are beyond the capacity of our diocesan budget, and every dollar raised goes directly to selected ministries. Historically, the selected ministries have included Rock Point Camp, Rock Point Commons, and various other outreach ministries agreed upon at each year’s Annual Convention. This year, we agreed to focus on Rock Point, Rock Point Camp, and ministries related to the priorities set by our Presiding Bishop and the General Convention, which include reconciliation, evangelism, and creation care. Principles of Attitudinal Healing
*the essence of being is love *health is an inner peace. Healing is letting go of fear *giving and receiving are the same *we can let go of the past & the future *now is the only time there is. Each instant is for giving *we can learn to love ourselves & others by forgiving, rather than judging *we can become love finders, rather than fault finders *we can choose & direct ourselves to be peaceful on the inside regardless of what is happening outside *we are students and teachers to each other *we can focus on the whole of life rather than the fragments *since love is eternal, death need not be viewed as fearful *we can always perceive others as either extending love or giving a call for help
