You watch their kids grow up from the time they’re born to their first day of school, prom, getting married and having babies. It’s a lifelong relationship in ways,” she says.

“Helping celebrate events and being there to help brighten up the hard times is all part of the job, she says.

“There’s always something going on. You’re always looking forward to the next holiday.”

Early that morning, Darla Avery and Andrea Sink, who are mother and daughter and colleagues at PayneWest Insurance, headed out to set up a food station for the event. Darla’s husband, Robert, also helped get things ready for the cyclists.

There were food stations all along the

route. PayneWest volunteers manned the station at the London Road location, where they passed out refreshments to cyclists as they made their way onto Weyerhaeuser Trail.

PayneWest encourages all colleagues to seek out volunteer opportunities and get involved in the community. All of the volunteers who helped out at the Cycle the Lakes event agree that it was a fun and rewarding experience.

A great day was had by all!

PayneWest Volunteers Support CyclistsThis past September, the annual Cycle the Lakes cycling event started out with a foggy morning that gave way to clear blue skies in the afternoon, as cyclists enjoyed the scenic ride. A total of 230 bicyclists turned out to ride the three routes along the renowned 16 mile Row River Trail. Participants included local riders, some from different parts of Oregon and a few from as far away as Washington and Canada.
