Connect us – Word Ping Pong

To play word catch you will need a partner.

Write down 3 words each on your own piece of paper but do not show your partner.

Number yourselves as players 1 and 2.

Stand facing each other.

Player 1 – call out your first word e.g. “Cheese!”

Player 2 – call out a word that is related e.g. “Crackers!”

Player 1 – call out a word that is related to their reply e.g. “Biscuits!”

Keep going until you take longer than 10 seconds to reply, can’t think of a word or repeat a word.

At this point, you should have 5 more starter words to choose from.

Open my mind

Listen to the story A Pig Is Moving In! by Claudia Fries.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-KJRadXqC4

Talk with a partner about these questions:

- What do you think the story is about?

It can be argued that the story is about making judgements about someone before you know

them.

- What do you think influenced their thoughts before Henrietta Hen, Dr Fox and Nick Hare got to know

the pig?

- What changed their minds about the Theodore the pig?

- Do you think that the animals were fair in their judgements of the pig? Why / why not?

- What feelings do the animals have towards the pig at the beginning?

- What feelings do the animals have towards the pig at the end?
